Engineer 1 – Renewables

Position Overview

As a beginner or intermediate-level engineer, you will be surveying and designing both residential and commercial photovoltaic solar and battery energy storage systems, with an emphasis on residential. You will learn and continue to expand your knowledge of how to create engineering plan sets per code that will be used for permitting and construction. This is a stimulating and rewarding job that involves problem-solving and allows you to participate in the entire process, from site surveys to the creation of as-built reports, all while contributing to the development of renewable energy.

Responsibilities

  • Collect all information required on-site in order to complete a full permit-ready plan set design for Solar PV or BESS residential system
  • Perform on-site survey and analysis of a property’s existing electrical system, property measurements, and viability of proposed design, both pre- and post-sale
  • Perform NEC-compliant wire and load calculations required for the project’s design
  • Create a permit-ready plan set in Auto-CAD LT for residential retro-fit solar and battery designs based on project notes, requirements, and customer expectations
  • Assist other departments, such as our Business Development team, with any technical or design-based inquiries
  • Coordinate and collaborate with general contractors, architects, structural engineers, and electricians to integrate solar and energy storage into the design plans
  • Manage a large volume of projects and able to deliver the scope of work in a timely manner
  • Constant improvement in knowledge-based expertise such as the National Electric Code (NEC) and state and local building codes

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience with site surveying for Solar PV and BESS designs
  • Comfortable with being on active construction sites
  • Familiarity with working with national, state, and local electrical and fire codes
  • Basic AutoCAD capabilities
  • Basic Microsoft Office knowledge
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong note-taking and documentation skills
  • Strong computer and research capabilities
  • Motivated to learn and ask lots of questions
  • Driven to work with a sense of urgency
  • Bachelor’s Degree in the STEM field

Other Information

Salary Range: $65,000-$90,000/year
