Position Type: Full-Time, Rotating Call-Out Schedule

Travel Requirement: 80% Travel to Remote Sites

Salary: DOE $90,000 – $100,000 + overtime ($35 per hour up to $45 per hour)

Job Description

Are you an experienced technician with a passion for renewable energy? Join our team as a Solar Maintenance Technician and play a key role in the upkeep and optimization of our solar panel array equipment and associated systems. This position is essential for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of our solar energy sites.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Maintenance & Repair: Evaluate, maintain, and repair solar panel arrays, breakers, switchgear, motor control centers, AC & DC circuitry, transformers, lighting panels, HVAC UPS, batteries, chargers, inverters, and VFDs.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist in and perform troubleshooting of solar and battery equipment. Diagnose problems in systems using online diagrams, electrical protection schemes, P&IDs, and vendor service manuals.
  • Preventive & Corrective Maintenance: Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure optimal performance of all equipment. This includes daily maintenance, construction, demolition, overhauls, repair/replacement, and removal/installation of equipment and structures.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures, including Lockout Tagout (LOTO), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Confined Space, Hot Work, Electrical Safety, and PPE.
  • Work Environment: Must be able to frequently climb ladders, enter confined spaces, and work from elevated platforms and walkways at heights of 80 feet or more while wearing a respirator.
  • Support: Provide support to the Odessa-Ector fossil site as required.

Education, Experience, and Skill Requirements:

  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Additional professional training, trade school, military service training, or technical training is preferred.
  • Experience: Maintenance experience in power generation facilities or similar industrial settings is preferred. Proficiency in both AC and DC power systems is essential.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of Safety and Environmental rules as they relate to electrical maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), with familiarity in Maximo preferred.
  • Experience with machinery repair and control systems is a plus.
  • Basic math skills, good verbal communication skills, and proficiency with power and precision tools are required.
  • Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are preferred.
