This position is eligible for a remote working arrangement.
Your Day-to-Day
- The primary responsibility of the Supply Management Specialist is to drive positive Supplier engagement with Westinghouse though effective application of manufacturing operations theory by leveraging and imparting lean / six sigma principles to the supply base.
- Maintain positive relationships with Suppliers
- Ensure on-time, in full deliveries by driving proactive habits with Suppliers
- Train and educate Suppliers in the application of lean / six sigma principles towards common goals
- Lead the Supplier Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process, establishing capacity plans against current demand & understanding raw material requirements
- Analyze logistics and operations with an eye for optimization
- Communicate effectively with a rigorous attention to detail
- Developing strong relationships with suppliers to drive on-time delivery of fuel components to our Columbia Fuel Fabrication Facility located in Columbia, South Carolina.
- Communicating with internal stakeholders and customers regarding supplier performance, significant issues, and recovery plans
- Maintaining Strong Customer/Cross-functional Relationships – Build effective working-level relationships with Westinghouse functions that impact supplier processes – Manufacturing, Assembly, Production, Inspection, Shipping, etc. This includes Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, SIOP, Quality, Product Managers, etc. Leverage these relationships provide service, improve processes, and gather demand inputs into all areas of GSCS including Supplier Performance Engineering (SPE).
- Driving Supplier Performance – Responsibilities in this area include 1) Executing the Supplier Evaluation Process through resources 2) monitoring and proactively addressing negative trends 3) apply structured problem solving and leveraging Lean and Six-Sigma tools for complex problems to drive resolution.
- Add value through Cost-Out / Cost-Avoidance – Leverage Subject Matter Expert (SME) and OpEx Expertise, with focused Six-Sigma training, to identify process improvements at our suppliers that eliminate waste, reduce cycle time, improve throughput, reduce cost-of-poor quality etc.
- Metrics Accountability – Safety & EHS, OTD, Quality, Cost, Cost Clearance, Cost Out, Supplier Assessment cycle, SIOP process adherence, etc.
- The Supply Management Specialist will fulfill these responsibilities through personal work effort, strong Supplier engagement, and in collaboration with peers from adjacent Global Supply Chaine Solutions (GSCS) pillars.
Who You Are
As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturign Operations, Supply Chain, or equivalent Technical Degree
- Minimum 5 years in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Program Management, or Materials Management with demonstrated experience managing Suppliers and Supply Chains.
- Up to 25 % travel required
- Proficient at Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Project and Power Point
- One of the following: Certified Six-Sigma Green Belt, Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified Production Inventory Management (CPIM), or equivalent experience
- Experience with nuclear products and standards is a plus
- Project Management experience is a plus
- Skills: Subject Matter Expert (SME) level in one of more of the following: Supply Chain Design, Supplier Management, Program Management, SIOP, materials Management, Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement, Manufacturing, Quality Systems, etc.
- Operations Shopfloor Experience in Machining / Fabrication
- Lean Principles: Kaizen, Gemba, Visual Management, etc.
- Materials Management Fundamentals: Planning, Scheduling, Inventory Management, SIOP, Rough Cut Capacity Planning, etc.
- Structured Problem Solving: 8D, 9-Block, Fishbone, etc.
- Quality systems / processes with experience in process capability and control (CpK), and layered metrics feeding a PPM Pareto (Parts per Million)
