About the Job:

We’re seeking a Senior Locomotive Electrical Engineer with Experience with Dual Engine systems, to be a key part of the development of our locomotive computer and control systems. This pivotal role will guide design, implementation, and testing, collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners. We seek a dynamic individual with a can-do attitude, ready to lead and execute with excellence.

We’re seeking individuals with a proven track record in the following areas:

  • Communications protocols: Familiarity with different communications protocol in the locomotive industry i.e. CanBus, RS232, ethernet.
  • Locomotive sub-systems: Deep understanding of the different microcomputer locomotive sub-systems such as CAX/CAB, EXC, AUX, PSC.
  • Sensors: Familiarity with different sensors of the engine
  • Embedded systems: Experience developing embedded systems, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Bouns – Dual Engine: Experience with dual engine locomotive, Integration and testing of different engines (diesel – electric) on a locomotive

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop the locomotive computer, ensuring compatibility with our robotic arm and battery tender.
  • Implement innovative solutions to optimize integration challenges and system performance.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation to ensure reliability and safety standards are met.
  • Lead both internal development and work with suppliers on requirements, design decisions and interfaces in areas like serial communication, sensors integration and contractors mitigation control
  • Drive and participate in a culture of rapid development and testing
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to maintain our competitive edge.

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in engine locomotive electronic systems design and development.

  • Experience in the locomotive communications protocols is a plus.
