Viridan Group is partnered with a a utility-scale Independent Power Producer who is looking for a Vice President Development to further strengthen their development portfolio of utility-scale solar AND wind projects – specifically across the WECC territory.

We are seeking a strategic and results-oriented Vice President of Development to lead project development initiatives across utility-scale solar and wind. This role will be pivotal in driving the company’s growth by overseeing the identification, evaluation, and execution of projects in the development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the solar and wind energy landscape, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record in project development within the renewable energy sector.

The successful candidate will have:

  • 10+ years of experience in project development, specifically in utility-scale solar or renewable energy across WECC,
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and commissioning large-scale solar projects.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team,
  • Lead the site screening, selection and feasibility assessment o Conduct land, market, regulatory, and other project-related research,
  • Lead the permitting process at the local, state, and federal levels and secure any available state or local property tax incentives,
  • Work in collaboration with the Company’s Procurement, Execution and Finance teams,
  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing development team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence,
  • Bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, MA preferred,
  • 10+ years of experience in project development, specifically in utility-scale solar or renewable energy.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and commissioning large-scale solar projects.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and permitting processes related to solar energy development.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strategic mindset.
  • Ability to travel as needed to project sites and stakeholder meetings.
