Job Description:
We are actively searching for a Structural Engineer with experience in design and construction projects, especially for waterfront infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have 8 to 15 years of experience and a strong background in structural engineering, particularly in waterfront, industrial, and/or building structures. This role involves working on various high-profile projects, including those for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and commercial port wind energy projects.
Responsibilities:

Lead Structural/Design and Project Management: Oversee complex waterfront infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include proposal development, project setup, team building, quality management, and coordination of subconsultant efforts.

Client Interaction: Attend and lead client meetings, develop meeting minutes, and ensure responsive client communication.

Structural Analysis and Design: Perform structural analysis and design for waterfront structures made of concrete, steel, timber, etc.

Project Types: Work on NAVFAC projects, marine terminals, offshore wind ports, vessel mooring structures, piers, bulkheads, and shore protection structures.

Project Delivery: Oversee design processes, ensure timely delivery of project deliverables, review and approve all submissions, and provide post-construction award services.

Field Work: Conduct site investigations, construction observations, and provide field consultations.

Mentorship: Mentor junior engineers and help them develop their skills.

Client Relationships: Maintain and enhance client relationships, act as the primary interface with clients and subconsultants, and prepare and submit proposals.
Qualifications:

Education: Master’s degree (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree (required) in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis.

Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Virginia or ability to obtain PE through reciprocity within 6 months of hire.

Experience: 8 to 15 years of experience in engineering design and project management. NAVFAC project experience is essential.

Knowledge: Working knowledge of UFC (Unified Facilities Criteria) and experience with construction contract documents.

Credentials: Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) and Department of Defense DBIDS card.

Travel: Willingness and availability to travel overnight both domestically and internationally.

Citizenship and Background Check: Proof of U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a thorough background check.

Compliance: All new hires must successfully complete a pre-employment background check in compliance with NIST 800-171.
Physical Requirements:
Majority of the work is office-based, but site visits will be required. This may involve navigating unpaved or natural terrain while carrying equipment.
