JOB OPENING: Accounting Associate

Hybrid/Remote – within 2 hrs of Boston

Position Description

This position will support the financial operations of the firm, working under the direction of our Director of Finance. As a growing venture capital firm, we need someone who can work hard to keep our financial practices and reporting on time and accurate. You will have the opportunity to gain exposure and experience to the practice of venture capital investing, while using your expertise to ensure our business runs effectively. This is an accounting and operational role on our internal finance team, not an investment role on our investments team.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

  • Manage payroll, accounts receivable and accounts payable functions.
  • Maintain general ledger and intercompany transactions across multiple entities.
  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements and investment performance.
  • Support in developing and maintaining firm financial models for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Analyze budget variances and provide insights on financial trends.
  • Support preparation of monthly management company financial statements.
  • Assist in preparing materials for regulatory filings and audits.
  • Maintain and update financial databases, vendor files and other records.
  • Collaborate with the operations team in managing fund operations.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and financial regulations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • You have 3+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or a relevant field.
  • You have strong accounting and financial reporting skills.
  • You can analyze financial statements, with strong quantitative skills and attention to detail.
  • You can effectively collaborate with other departments and contribute to cross-functional projects.
  • You are proactive and able to work independently yet can also work in a team environment.
  • You are able to work effectively with deadlines.
  • You have a working knowledge of financial databases and software such as Quickbooks, Bill.com, expense softwares, and in-house banking platforms.
  • You have strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • You have a strong desire for organization, reconciliations and process.
  • You have great communications skills and can boil down complex topics into easy to understand, logical summaries.

Clean Energy Ventures operates in a hybrid work environment when health and safety regulations permit. This role can be fulfilled remotely, with the expectation of semi-monthly travel.
