Position Summary
Reporting to the Executive Director of Student Success and collaborating closely with the academic advisors and college student success associate deans and chairs, the Navigate Retention Specialist plays a key role in the development, implementation, and assessment of student success initiatives, most notably the continued campus-wide implementation of the EAB Navigate software. The Navigate Retention Specialist is responsible for supporting the success of students by coordinating the campus wide use of the Navigate system and providing strategic leadership, leveraging technical capacities, and fostering strong, collaborative networks across campus, to guide targeted student interventions and engagement plans aimed at improving student retention and graduation rates. The Navigate Retention Specialist is also responsible for coordinating the alerts and cases process, running, and disseminating reports to campus units, managing the student app, responding to the Navigate email account, and assisting with troubleshooting user issues. This position provides training and support for students, staff, and instructors.
Responsibilities
Campus Support (50%)
  • Coordinate the alerts and cases outreach process engaging with students experiencing academic and/or personal challenges to their success.
  • Monitors, evaluates, and modifies processes, procedures, and/or standards, ensuring alignment with the Institutions mission, values, goals, and objectives, as well as all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Manage the onboarding of new departments and campus partners to align their needs with Navigate capabilities.
  • Provide ongoing training to the campus community related to software updates and enhancements.
  • Create copy for messaging campaigns, events, and other student success resources across the institution.
  • Maintain robust web-based documentation for reference and troubleshooting.
  • Deliver training to new and continuing platform users.
  • Focused on campus wide program implementation.
  • Serves as the program or unit liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups.
Data Analysis & Reporting (45%)
  • Inputs, maintains, and analyzes data in confidential databases and transfers data as needed.
  • Generates data-based annual reports of curricular and departmental outcomes.
  • Provides expert statistical consulting, analysis, and technical assistance on research projects, program assessment, and evaluation including surveys and quick polls.
  • Facilitate the preparation of reports, assessments, and materials for advising as requested by the Vice Chancellor
  • Use data to determine the effectiveness of advising programming across campus, including but not limited to first year registration, orientation, EAB early alert interventions, Advising Day, withdrawal trends and interventions, etc.
  • Collect and review student data to identify trends and evaluate enrollment levels, retention rates, academic progress, and graduation rates.
  • Responsible for leveraging EAB Navigate to improve, standardize, and coordinate academic advising functions at UW-River Falls
Miscellaneous (5%):
  • Monitor the Navigate email account.
  • Serve on department, division, or university committees.
  • Actively participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree required (by start date).
  • Minimum 3-5 years supporting student success.
  • Commitment to a student-centered approach with the ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Demonstration of excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft and EAB Navigate preferred.
  • Experience implementing effective practices supporting recruitment and retention.
  • Demonstrate strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and ability to meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree
  • Leadership experience in academic advising, student success, student retention, enrollment management, or related field.
  • Strong familiarity with predictive analytics, proactive student intervention and student record systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, etc.)
  • Experience using CRM for student retention and intervention initiatives (e.g., EAB Navigate, etc.)
  • Ability to use technology effectively to advance processes, procedures, and efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse student populations, understating of retention and related issues in higher education
  • Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
