Job Description Summary

BASIC FUNCTION:

Assist with the development, planning, and implementation of interdisciplinary Extension community development-focused programming. Serve as the program coordinator for the URI Energy Fellows Program with the primary responsibility of sustaining and expanding program partnerships and direct supervision of student participants. Support the design of Extension energy literacy programs and partnerships.

Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Build awareness of and capacity for communities to address health and environmental issues related to energy consumption and other social determinants of health through strategic multi-sector partnerships with the RI Health Equity Zones, state agencies, and community-based organizations.

Engage with stakeholders at events, forums, and meetings to understand their needs, ideas, and concerns and incorporate community input into Cooperative Extension program planning and implementation.

Develop and sustain relationships with local, state, and national partners to inform Cooperative Extensions energy literacy initiative programs on topics related to energy efficiency and weatherization, electrification, renewable energy, and available incentive programs.

Coordinate the URI Energy Fellows Program including recruiting, hiring, and training URI Energy Fellows; develop, plan, and implement professional development, leadership, and topical energy related training for URI Energy Fellows; engage with internal and external partners to further develop and update experiential opportunities, student mentoring, and training.

Maintain relationships with URI career and experiential learning staff to stay connected to University-wide efforts and uphold best practices and protocols; foster collaboration with URI faculty and staff working in related fields to promote and enhance their integration into the Energy Fellow Program and energy literacy programming.

Investigate funding opportunities for Extension energy literacy programs and assist the Program Administrator in proposal and grant development.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform other duties as required.

LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers and printers including proficiency with Microsoft Office, database management and Web-based Learning Management Systems.

Required Qualifications
REQUIRED:

1. Masters degree in environmental economics, environmental studies, sustainability, public health or related field.

2. Minimum of three years of experience working in project management or program coordination on sustainability/energy or related topics.

3. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

4. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.

5. Demonstrated ability to work independently.

6. Demonstrated organizational skills.

7. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.

Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED:

1. Demonstrated experience with engaging students at an institution of higher education.

2. Demonstrated experience engaging with community-based organizations and/or leading community development initiatives.
