Position to begin August or as soon, thereafter, as possible

Duties and Responsibilities

Under faculty supervision, assist with graduate-level courses (in-person and/or asynchronous) that are focused on public health topics, such as public health foundation, health services, biostatistics, program planning, etc.
1. Assist with development and implementation of class assignments and projects
2. Assist with grading assignments and class management
3. Hold office hours to assist with assignments and projects
4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Be a classified degree-seeking* student in a Masters or PhD program under UHM Graduate Division;
2. Be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above;
3. Maintain 6 credits per semester with the exception of those who have reached 800 (dissertation) or 700F (thesis);
4. Demonstrate proficiency in English (For international students: TOEFL scores of 600/100 (paper/Internet) or above, with subtest scores of 25 for listening and 25 for speaking, or IELTS score of 7.0 or above for the overall band test results);
5. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Forms)
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills;
7. Strong interpersonal skills; and
8. Must be responsible, organized, dependable, and efficient.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Experience working with students in higher education in a mentoring or teaching capacity;
2. Completion of a BA in Public Health or related field;
3. Experience working in multi-cultural settings;
4. Experience working with students from underrepresented minorities;
5. Experience working with Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander students;
6. Completion of PH 600 Public Health Foundations, PH 6062 US Health Care Services & Policy; PH 655 Biostatistics I, PH663 Epidemiology I, PH 648 Program Planning, Management, Evaluation, and Leadership, and/or PH 789 Integrative Seminar
