Treaty Oaks management team has a collective 50+ years experience across the critical competencies, including power markets, offtake structuring, design, engineering and real estate.

The Role

Treaty Oak is seeking an Associate, Environmental and Permitting. The role will be responsible for responsible for supporting the environmental review and permitting processes for our solar projects. You will work closely with internal teams, regulatory agencies, and external stakeholders to ensure that our projects meet all environmental and permitting requirements. The position reports to the Director, Environmental and Permitting on the Development team.

Key Responsibilities –

Environmental Review:

  • Conduct environmental assessments and impact analyses for proposed solar projects.
  • Identify potential environmental risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts.

Permitting Process:

  • Coordinate and manage the permitting process for solar projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications, including all required documentation and supporting materials.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Monitor and stay current with environmental regulations and policies that affect solar project development.
  • Ensure that all projects adhere to applicable environmental laws and regulations.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, local governments, and community stakeholders to facilitate project approvals.
  • Address concerns and provide information to stakeholders regarding environmental and permitting issues.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and organized records of environmental assessments, permit applications, and regulatory communications.
  • Prepare and present reports on environmental and permitting activities to internal and external stakeholders.

Site Assessments:

  • Conduct site visits and field assessments to evaluate environmental conditions and gather data for project planning.
  • Work with environmental consultants and contractors to ensure thorough and accurate assessments.

Project Support:

  • Assist the Development team with project planning, scheduling, and budgeting related to environmental and permitting tasks.
  • Provide support in identifying and securing project sites with favorable environmental characteristics.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in environmental review, permitting, or a related role.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes relevant to solar energy projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and conduct field assessments as needed.
