We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager with 7+ years of experience building self-organizing, autonomous teams rooted in technical excellence and utilizing agile delivery practices. Our 3 platforms utilize various technologies, such as Java, Python, Node.js, React.js, Angular 14, Graph QL, Postgres, and TypeScript.

What You’ll Do

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage multiple engineering teams, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with team members to support their growth and development.
  • Recognize the opportunities that lie opposite of the problems.

Technical Oversight:

  • Ensure the teams follow best practices in software development, including coding standards, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with architects and team leads to design and implement scalable and maintainable software solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies and incorporate them as appropriate.
  • A strong understanding of building distributed applications in a native cloud environment is required.

Product Delivery:

  • Understand and seek ways to reduce Cycle Times using DORA and other metrics.
  • Work closely with our architect, product managers, and stakeholders to understand requirements, priorities, and expected outcomes.
  • Manage resources effectively, balancing workloads and ensuring optimal team performance.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to maintain high coding standards.
  • Work with Product to balance new development with technical debt and ensure long-term maintainability of the software.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Facilitate effective communication within and between teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments to drive cross-functional projects and initiatives.
  • Represent the engineering teams in leadership meetings, providing updates on progress, challenges, and successes.

How You’ll Qualify

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • 3+ years in a remote leadership role
  • Strong knowledge in software engineering principles and best practices
  • Proven experience designing, building, and scaling cloud-native distributed applications
  • Node.js, React.js, Angular 14, Graph QL, Postgres, and TypeScript.
  • Background in Accounting or AgTech is a plus
