Titan America has an opening for a skilled and motivated professional Senior Compliance and Controls Accountant, to join our Management Accounting team located at its Corporate Center in Norfolk, Virginia. This salary exempt position will work closely with the Director of Management Accounting for the Mid-Atlantic Business Unit to create processes and internal controls that algin with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), US GAAP and TITAN accounting policies. The position reports to the Director of Management Accounting.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Independently perform or coordinate a variety of advanced accounting activities, including more complex accounting processes in accordance with IFRS and GAAP.
  • Oversee the complete and accurate maintenance of assigned accounting records and the preparation and compilation of financial reports and information.
  • Assist with IFRS, GAAP and regulatory reporting for assigned business unit or division and perform other related accounting tasks and analyses.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring for less experienced team members, including the review and approval of work of other team members.
  • Prepare or review journal entries and monitor assigned account activity to accurately record Titan’s transactions in accordance with IFRS and internal accounting policies.
  • Compile and maintain necessary supporting documentation. Complete or review and approve reconcilements for assigned general ledger accounts in accordance with reconcilement policies and standards.
  • Coordinate the design, implementation and documentation of accounting and reporting process workflow and controls for assigned accounts and subsidiary accounting systems (which may include spreadsheets, databases or applications), including reconcilement controls.
  • Recommend control refinements as products, processes, IFRS, regulatory reporting requirements or corporate policies change.
  • Review and update policies and procedures for compliance with governmental regulations and corporate policies and standards.
  • Coordinate development of new accounting processes and procedures as needed.
  • Actively engaged in monthly close process for the MABU product lines (cement, ready-mix, ash, or aggregates), including engagement with product line field management to understand monthly business activity, ensuring product line results follow IFRS standards and maintenance of required balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of all phases of the MABU midyear review and year-end external audit process, including directly working with the external audit team, technical IFRS research, and contribution to footnote disclosures.
  • Assist as needed the Financial Reporting team with regular reporting responsibilities to the Parent’s finance function and Titan America management.
  • Participate in regular product line team meetings to understand key initiatives, business issues, and develop relationships with product line team members. Prepare and present relevant financial data, as required.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent education and related training
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GenerallyAccepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office products, with an emphasis in spreadsheets, word processing and database software
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to work under time constraints with a largeand diverse group of internalcustomers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Public accounting experience.
  • Professional designation (or candidate for designation) as a CPA or CMA Master’s degree in accounting or business administration
  • SAP FICO experience.
