Join Our Team as a Real-Time Trader in Bellevue!

Are you ready to take on a dynamic role in the heart of the Western US energy market? As a Real-Time Trader, you’ll negotiate hourly energy transactions across various trading hubs, managing a diverse portfolio of power generation assets, including clean renewable hydroelectric power. You’ll be at the forefront of maximizing the value of assets for various-sized public utility districts in Washington and Oregon, all of whom are not-for-profit and community-owned.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with forward traders, portfolio managers, and analysts to develop and deploy innovative risk management strategies. Through our economies-of-scale operations, extensive experience, and proprietary optimization technologies, we create significant value for our clients, helping to reduce costs for their rate-paying customers.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage multiple client portfolios in real-time
  • Forecast hourly loads and analyze energy and transmission alternatives
  • Develop, negotiate, and execute strategic business transactions
  • Evaluate market conditions and devise trading strategies
  • Coordinate communications on power supply needs and transactions
  • Monitor real-time system metering, SCADA alarm systems, and generation platforms.
  • Schedule energy and reserve transactions and manage transmission reservations
  • Maintain client resource mixes, tagging methodologies, and scheduling requirements
  • Accurately record purchase and sale transactions

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year accredited college or university required; advanced degree a plus.
  • Previous experience in the energy industry and with trade capture systems is a plus.

Compensation

  • Competitive base salary ranges based on role, level, and location: $79,464 – $107,510; $119,122 – $161,165; $129,418 – $175,094.
  • Annual target short-term incentive rate of 30% of base salary based on corporate, team, and individual performance.
