The Supplier Development & Corporate Sustainability Engineer is responsible for developing and managing relationships with suppliers, focusing on performance improvement and sustainability initiatives. This role involves working with various stakeholders to drive supplier performance and ensure alignment with the company’s environmental sustainability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Development and Performance Improvement:

Supplier Assessment: Lead visits to key supplier sites to diagnose performance issues and coordinate audits, process improvements, and quality system enhancements.

Performance Metrics: Support the collection and maintenance of supplier performance metrics and evaluate supplier quality data to identify improvement opportunities.

Corrective Actions: Collaborate with internal teams to perform root cause analysis on quality issues and manage the corrective action process.

Development Plans: Partner with Operations, Purchasing, and Quality teams to create and execute supplier development plans focused on quality, delivery, capacity, and process capability.

Feedback and Audits: Provide regular feedback on supplier performance, conduct audits, review supplier scorecards, and manage business reviews.

Supplier Recommendations: Recommend qualification or disqualification of suppliers based on performance.
Supplier Selection and Program Support:

Selection Assistance: Assist Purchasing in gathering quotes for new program RFQs, supplier selection, and commodity strategies.

Program Launch: Coordinate and manage deliverables and activities necessary for successful new program launches, including APQP and supplier safe launch activities.

Pre-Assessments: Organize pre-assessments and localization activities for new suppliers.

VA/VE Support: Support Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) activities at both manufacturing sites and supplier locations.
Sustainability and Social Responsibility:

Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans to meet environmental sustainability goals, including renewable energy, carbon neutrality, and responsible care.

Data Collection: Gather and manage data to ensure timely completion of sustainability reporting requirements.

Communication: Collaborate with Executives and other departments to communicate the company’s sustainability progress and initiatives.

Metrics Development: Create metrics to measure, monitor, and report on progress towards corporate sustainability goals.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability, or a related field. Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management is preferred.

Experience: 5-8+ years in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or a similar field, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Strong background in supplier quality and development is required.

Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Experience with ERP systems, particularly SyteLine, is a plus. Knowledge of ISO14001 or similar standards is advantageous.

Certifications: ASCM Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), ASCM Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR-P) Endorsement, or ISM Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs, sit, use a keyboard, and handle files.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
- Frequent travel up to 50% for supplier development and support.
- Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments, including moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
- Moderate noise level in office settings, with louder conditions in production areas.

- Effective communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
