The Senior Analyst, Energy Managemen is responsible for analysis, research, and project execution in areas such as reporting, contract management, regulatory policy, and process improvement in support of the Key Account Team.

Reporting to Manager, Key Accounts, this individual contributor role will work closely with the Key Account team as well as with other departments such as Regulatory & Government Affairs, Finance, Digital, Legal, and Asset Management. This role is designed to develop into a customer facing position in the future.

This position necessitates the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and build relationships, meet timely resolution of both internal and external inquiries, and to stay motivated in situations of complexity. The role requires a detail oriented, high energy, highly responsible individual. Building trusted relationships cross-functionally and demonstrating a commercial centric mindset are critical success factors in this role.

Customer Reporting & Legislative Policy (50%)

  • Analyst will be primary support for the construction of internal leadership and external customer reports and presentations necessary under Master Agreements and PPAs
  • Analyst will also support the reporting/data visualization in Power BI (or a similar tool), Sharepoint, Salesforce, and other systems of record
  • Analyst will have and continue building a strong working knowledge of energy regulatory policy at the ISO/RTO, state, and federal level be able to apply to reporting.

Administer Contracts/Asset Management (30%)

  • Analyst will be able to understand and monitor key contractual terms within Key Account’s retail and PPA contracts.
  • Analyst will support communication with necessary internal teams to ensure accurate administration of contract terms.
  • Analyst will identify and/or support opportunities for process improvement, report creation, and proactive contract management.

Customer Management Support (20%)

  • Analyst will support the following activities: meeting setting and confirmation, follow up and complete related tasks, Salesforce update and maintenance, deck prep.

Candidates must possess:

  • A solid understanding of deregulated power markets and retail and wholesale market
  • Familiarity with contract terms and renewable asset development and management
  • Familiarity with the two-way settlement of the RTO/ISO markets and with the fundamental factors that impact regional power markets
  • Familiarity with commercial risk management and project management
  • Working knowledge and functional understanding of electrical units including MW, MWh, Capacity, RECs, Load Factor, Capacity Factor

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Day to day reporting activity and contractual obligation support; obtain information internally within AES and provide reports for internal and external consumption:
  • ISO settlement inquires of energy, capacity, and ancillaries
  • Commodity market updates
  • Tariff and Legislative updates that impact the energy markets
  • Development status updates for renewable projects
  • Respond to incoming requests, manage support requests, provide timely resolution and remediation to issues and track requests to completion
  • Prepare customer presentation materials
  • Progress through the Key Account Development Program
  • Qualifications:

    • 2+ years of experience in the energy industry
    • Wholesale or retail energy experience and working knowledge
    • Experience with renewable contracts, asset management, or a legal background preferred
    • Strong Excel and ability to create impactful presentations in PowerPoint
    • Solid commercial mindset & agility to balance customer and business need
    • Analytical and problem-solving skills with high level attention to detail
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong organization and time management skills
    • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or Finance; or equivalent experience.
