The Opportunity:
LDIS LLC, a Tetra Tech Company, provides integrated engineering and design solutions for the Energy, Petrochem, Renewables, Water Treatment and Life Sciences markets. Your Role:
A Pipeline Engineer will be responsible for providing technical knowledge in relation to ASME B31.8/B31.4, DOT 49 CFR part 192 & 195, and PHMSA regulated projects spanning multiple technical disciplines. Knowledge requirements include survey, construction, regulatory compliance, fluid hydraulics, material mechanics and properties, measurement, communications, and soil science.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated ability to perform and lead all aspects of engineering and design for pipeline related projects (oil, water, gas, CO2, etc.) with no guidance.
- Tasks you should plan to perform:
Fluid hydraulics (steady state and transient)
DOT location classifications
Routing studies
HDD design
Piping & Mapping Design coordination
Develop procedures; construction, welding, hot tap/tie-in, pressure testing, etc.
Develop PVF specifications
Piping & Mapping Design coordination
Develop equipment data sheets – metering, pressure vessels, chemical injections, pumping/compression, actuation
Spill studies
- Coordinate with client and engineering disciplines to establish project Design Basis and meet stakeholder requirements.
- Ensure technical requirements defined in the project scope documents, design basis, and execution plan are incorporated by the technical disciplines.
- Emphasis on clear technical reporting for all studies performed
- Reinforce quality and safety standards.
- Provide liaison services between engineering and field personnel (operations, construction, survey, etc.).
Technical Abilities
- Work with document control to prepare deliverable issuances in adherence to Project Execution Plan
- Oversee the technical review of equipment bid submissions with help from procurement team.
- Lead technical reviews and assessments, internally within LDIS and with client stakeholders.
- Ensure technical details of deliverables are aligned between disciplines.
- Continuously perform quality assurance reviews throughout the life of projects.
Project Scoping
- Work with proposal managers to clarify and create bids for future work.
- Provide input to PM and/or proposal teams on scoping requirements to enure complete engineering packages.
- Prepare deliverables lists, engineering estimates, and clarifications and assumptions based on project scopes of work.
Schedule and Budgeting
- Participate in periodic project status meetings with the PM and client; providing input to Project Manager on deliverable status.
- Collaborate with Project Manager on project administration tasks (deliverable scheduling, estimating, cost management, staffing, schedule management, etc.)
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Civil or Process engineering, or similar ABET accredited engineering degree
- Must have 8-15 years experience in Pipeline Engineering, with projects in varying phases of design (pre-FEED, FEED, Detail Design).
- FE required and PE preferred or willing to obtain
- Deep understanding of many aspects of oil and gas pipeline systems; with the ability to perform technical work in adherence to specifications, standards, codes, and client requirements. Systems include oil, gas, water, CO2, and other commodities for metering, slug catchers, chemical injection, pigging, pumping/compression, etc.
- High level understanding of piping and pipeline systems, and their operational considerations regarding DOT, ASME, API, PHMSA, and other codes and standards.
- Understanding of pipeline construction techniques and considerations regarding geography, environment, equipment, regulations, etc.
- Pipeline related facility projects outside of oil & gas, helping to progress and expand our groups technical offerings is preferred
- VMG/Symmetry experience strongly preferred
- Advanced knowledge in Excel, i.e. pivot table, power queries
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office- Outlook, Word, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and competent written and oral communications skills and the ability to apply them within a team environment and externally with clients and vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to be organized, detail-oriented, accurate, and able to track progress to ensure timely involvement in multiple projects and associated tasks and competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Capacity to learn and adapt to new situations, processes, and innovation; ability to adapt style to meet the needs of individuals and/or the organization.

Annual Salary Range: $122,000-$166,500 depending on education and experience.
