Job Description

We are seeking a Project Manager to oversee the Installation phase of the Wind Turbine Generator (WTG) package for our clients offshore wind project. This role involves managing the transportation, pre-assembly, and installation of WTGs.

The WTG Installation Project Manager will report directly to the Manager – Site Construction, Offshore Wind. In this role, you will be responsible for the scope, schedule, and budget of the WTG installation phase, working closely with other Project Managers, the Site Construction team, and the Commissioning Manager. Your primary objective is to ensure that all components are transported, pre-assembled, and installed in accordance with the project timeline, while also supporting commissioning efforts as needed. You will collaborate closely with the WTG prime contractor and the Wind Turbine Installation Vessel (WTIV) provider to meet the project’s requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the offshore turbine installation package from engineering through construction, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Manage the offshore construction schedule and ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Contractors and manage communication effectively.
  • Coordinate interfaces between various project packages, including Port logistics, Foundation and Cables installation, WTIV, Commissioning, and Offshore logistics.
  • Liaise with the Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) and Certified Verification Agent (CVA) to ensure compliance with project standards.
  • Oversee and control installation contracts, ensuring all terms are met.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with offshore turbine installation.
  • Stay updated on the manufacturing status of WTG components, including Towers, Nacelles, and Blades, as well as related subcomponents.
  • Monitor the transportation of WTG components from manufacturing sites to the staging site at PMT.
  • Act as the Owner Representative on-site and occasionally visit manufacturing facilities in Europe and the USA to oversee the fabrication and installation of necessary equipment.
  • Supervise pre-assembly work for towers at PMT and manage the loadout of components onto the WTIV for offshore installation.
  • Review Method Statements, Lifting Plans, Mobilization and Demobilization plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), inspection reports, and completion certifications.
  • Track the progress of transportation, pre-assembly, and installation phases, providing accurate reports to the Package Manager and leadership.
  • Review contractor claims and assist in negotiating potential change orders.
  • Identify any scope gaps and support the development of RFPs, including contract negotiations and managing additional contractors for the Installation phase.
  • Participate in progress and technical alignment meetings.
  • Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, compliance, and quality.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of Project Management experience in offshore wind projects, particularly with the installation of Wind Turbine Generators.

Educational Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering is preferred, with specializations in electrical, mechanical, civil, maritime, or industrial systems. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of an engineering degree.
