This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, traceable and timely reporting of Tate & Lyle’s sustainability metrics including data analysis to proactively identify and prioritize opportunities to reduce our footprint to meet commitments, targets and maintain compliance. The role is also responsible for developing Tate & Lyle’s sustainable metrics as a critical component of our digital transformation to enable external reporting and support initiatives and projects. This role will report to the Director of Sustainability.

Main Accountabilities

  • Maintain Tate & Lyle’s sustainability data, reporting systems and processes; engage in the digital transformation to improve reporting accuracy, traceability and timeliness. Enable improved, data-driven decisions.
  • Identify and partner with internal stakeholders to implement opportunities to incrementally improve Tate & Lyle’s metrics and reporting processes.
  • Analyse greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to identify and prioritize the most impactful decarbonization opportunities. Effectively communicate potential impact to key stakeholders, track progress and report results.
  • Share subject matter expertise to upskill cross-functional project teams on sustainability reporting requirements, impact and processes. Support building value propositions/business cases for proposed initiatives and projects.
  • Maintain Tate & Lyle’s decarbonization projects and impact to report on climate transition plans, progress against commitments and targets and relevant ESG disclosures.
  • Demonstrate and apply subject matter expertise to report on and maintain Tate & Lyle’s GHG emissions data management and reporting to meet reporting requirements (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi, etc.)
  • Identify opportunities and risks related to climate change, support incorporation into enterprise risk management processes, dashboards and ESG disclosures.
  • Responsible for accurate and timely reports according to Tate & Lyle’s reporting criteria, relevant reporting standards and regulatory requirements. Lead Tate & Lyle’s third-party reasonable assurance audit process, track recommendations and drive improvements.
  • Responsible for the development and verification of product life cycle analysis and product carbon footprints and customer facing sustainability related metrics. Develop and manage the process and IT solution governance and document control process.
  • Support ICD in determining the impact of innovation and customer reformulation on key sustainability metrics.
  • Demonstrated ability for manage multiple priorities in a matrixed environment to enable prioritization and impact are realized to meet the Tate & Lyle’s sustainability strategy and business needs.
  • Represent Tate & Lyle in external working groups and committees.
  • Support additional programs, initiatives, and reporting requirements in support of Tate & Lyle’s sustainability goals.

Success Will Be Measured Through

  • The ability to establish and maintain strong internal and external partnerships.
  • Impact resulting from analytics used to inform and engage cross-functional teams to drive measurable impact to achieve Tate & Lyle’s commitments and targets.
  • Improved data management, reporting and trajectory forecasting to drive tangible progress and improved visibility within key functions.
  • Timely and seamless data verification on results, life cycle analysis, product carbon footprints and other external sustainability impact metrics.
  • Compliance with applicable regulatory and reporting requirements.

Legislative Requirements

  • Adhere to all defined local environmental laws, regulations and permit requirements.
  • Understand applicable sustainability and greenhouse gas reporting requirements (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi, etc.) and related disclosures.

Skills & Experiences

The successful candidate will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, sustainability or related fields of study.
  • 8-10 years of progressive responsibility of internal and external sustainability data management, analysis and reporting of complex data sets is required.
  • Experience with data management systems, integration, governance is desired.
  • Experience leading and implementing projects in partnership with global cross-functional teams with varying approaches leading to proven results.
  • Deep, technical knowledge of emissions reporting standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi), WBCDS PACT, etc.) is required.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to verify data quality and identify errors, trends and patterns to quickly and accurately to develop innovative solutions, improve data management and inform future program development.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex, technical requirements, and results to non-subject matter experts to gain consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of and ability to effectively communicate current sustainability trends, opportunities and risks to inform Tate & Lyle’s sustainability strategy.
  • Highly self-motivated individual capable of managing and delivering on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, diverse environment, across multiple time zones.
  • A genuine passion for and commitment to promoting sustainable business practices to contribute to a more resilient global supply system.
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time.
