TARGAN Inc is a fast-growing AgTech company focused on developing innovative products to help advance the animal agricultural industry. TARGAN thrives by combining engineering and biological expertise to integrate its proprietary technologies. TARGAN uses a variety of technologies including high-speed imaging, feature recognition, artificial intelligence, robotics, and microfluidics to bring novel solutions to the industry. The successful candidate will support the design and testing of New Product Development initiatives for bio-devices for the global livestock industry. This position is to be filled by an individual with attention to detail and scientific acumen. The successful candidate must be able to dedicate at least 20 hours per week. The position is a temporary part-time position, generally for about 1 year, with the possibility of extension.

  • Support cross-functional bio team and projects. as directed by the supervisor
  • Assist in routine lab duties, such as sample and reagent preparations, test preparations, test conduct, inventory tracking, laboratory maintenance, etc.
  • Learn and perform analytical assays as needed
  • Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments as directed by the supervisor
  • Participate in experimental planning meetings as required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education

  • BS in Life Science, Animal Science, or Related Disciplines

Desired Experience

  • Laboratory and animal work
  • Basic microbiology skills including proficiency in pipetting, dilutions, and light microscopy
  • Working with biological samples, infectious agents, and animals in a research environment
  • Following SOPs and documentation of data

Knowledge & Skills

  • Positive attitude and can-do mentality
  • A passion for learning and continuing growth
  • Time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Knowledge of poultry science industry is preferred, but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Normal periods of sitting and standing in an office and production environment
  • Occasional extended periods of standing/sitting
  • Lifting and/or pushing objects up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis
  • Lifting and/or pushing objects up to 50 lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Working with heavy machinery or equipment on an occasional basis
  • Working in a laboratory setting
  • Working with birds or other animals
