BESS Electrical Engineer

Our client, a leading firm in renewable energy projects, is seeking a BESS Electrical Engineer to join their energy storage team. This company is at the forefront of offering expertise in various advanced storage technologies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for energy storage solutions and a mix of engineering, business development, and project management skills.

Key responsibilities for this role will include (but not limited to):

  • Evaluate energy storage technologies and provide guidance on the optimal solutions for clients.
  • Engage in marketing, project development, and proposal creation for energy storage projects.
  • Maintain regular communication and correspondence with clients and external personnel.
  • Develop scope of work, conceptual designs, and execution plans for projects.
  • Prepare engineering cost and man-hour estimates and schedules.
  • Perform project management duties on energy storage consulting projects.
  • Act as Lead Engineer on multi-discipline energy storage construction projects.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced team members.
  • Prepare or oversee the creation of construction documents for energy storage facility electrical systems.
  • Develop or direct the creation of equipment specifications, procurement, and factory acceptance testing.
  • Coordinate project design assignments and design teams across multiple locations.
  • Offer guidance and field engineering support during construction and commissioning.
  • Travel approximately 20% to client offices and field project sites, including potential overseas travel.

Required and desired skillsets, experience and qualifications for this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
  • Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology and completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably with EPC projects.
  • PE License is preferred.
  • Experience with energy storage for utility-scale or large industrial facilities, including battery technology, sizing, site layouts, inverter selection, and related system design.
  • Proficiency with engineering software such as SKM Power Tools or ETAP is a plus.
  • Experience in field construction and commissioning is preferred.
  • Previous consulting engineering experience is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to travel.
  • Ability to utilize Excel spreadsheets, create excel trackers, and be able to use Word and Powerpoint for reporting/presentations via teams or in person.
