Job Description

Swift Current Energy is a leading renewable energy project developer, owner and operator (“Swift Current” or the “Company”) with over 6,000 MW of wind, solar and energy storage projects across the U.S. The Company is currently seeking a highly motivated, experienced Assistant Controller to support our Controller in managing and overseeing the accounting operations of the company. The Company has primary offices in Boston and Houston; this role may be based in either location, with a preference for the Boston Office or New England area.

Job Scope:

The Assistant Controller will work closely with the Controller to ensure accurate financial reporting and efficient accounting processes, and to maintain internal controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background with the ability to handle multiple responsibilities and collaborate effectively with various teams. The primary responsibilities of the Assistant Controller include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Aid in the execution of month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, reviewing work performed by staff accountants and verifying the accuracy of financial records.
  • Maintain accurate consolidation of complex organizational structure to support financial statement audits and tax filings prepared for multiple stakeholders.
  • Assist in overseeing accounts payable function to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. Address and resolve any discrepancies or issues that arise.
  • Help maintain and enhance internal controls and processes to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Participate in managing the external and internal audit requirements for multiple reporting entities.
  • Prepare ad hoc quantitative analyses and support systems implementations and data integrity.
  • Collaborate with other finance team members and departments to support overall financial operations. Provide support and guidance to junior staff and assist with their development.
  • Ad hoc tasks as required from time to time

Job responsibilities may evolve based on Company needs and individual career growth. This role reports to the Controller.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 5+ years proven experience in similar positions in the industry, or from public accounting with experience relevant to job requirements
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls
  • Fluidity in MS Office suite, with high proficiency in Excel
  • Proficiency in accounting software; prior experience with NetSuite highly desirable
  • Current authorization to live and work in the U.S.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following qualification:

  • Strong understanding of partnership accounting
  • Power generation and power commercialization sector experience with a focus on renewable energy generation
  • CPA license

Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to federal, state and local regulations. The annual salary range for this position starts at $135,000 to $170,000; salary is commensurate with experience. Annual compensation also includes eligibility for a year-end performance-based bonus, awarded at management discretion.
