⚡ Role: PowerTrader – ERCOT

🌎 Location: Hybrid – Houston, Texas

💰 Salary: $120,000-$150,000 + Bonus

This is an amazing opportunity for a RT Trader to join a national leader in energy trading and development. You will be responsible for daily trading and dispatching of its battery energy storage systems (BESS) in power markets, with a focus in ERCOT.

Key Responsibilities:

• Real-Time Asset Management: Execute trading and scheduling decisions to ensure state of charge availability, meeting energy and ancillary service obligations while adhering to ISO protocols, NERC standards, and risk policy.
• AI Schedule Evaluation: Utilize proprietary AI dispatch schedules to inform real-time operational decisions.
• Market Operations Insight: Leverage deep knowledge of ISO/ERCOT market operations to guide BESS trading and bidding strategies. Work with the trading team to optimize battery storage operations in real-time.
• Field Operations Coordination: Maintain real-time communication with Field Operations staff regarding asset availability, manage outages, and coordinate with Scheduling Entities and ISOs as needed.
• 24/7 Operations Schedule: Work within a rotating real-time operations schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• System Monitoring: Use third-party modules and ISO reports to monitor real-time system conditions, outages, and constraints affecting nodal energy prices.
• Asset Support: Assist in asset onboarding, planning, and reporting. Act as a liaison with clients and business partners, manage asset parameters, plan outages, and monitor asset performance.

Requirements:

• Experience: At least two years in a real-time power trading role such as control room operations, power trading, generation scheduling, or asset management.
• ISO Knowledge: Preferable experience with one or more ISOs e.g., ERCOT, CAISO, WECC, SPP, MISO, PJM, IESO, NYISO, ISONE etc. (ERCOT Preferred)
• Certifications: NERC certification and familiarity with energy storage technologies are strongly preferred.
• Education: Degrees in finance, economics, mathematics, electrical theory, power distribution, power generation, or a related field.
