💰 Salary: $160,000-$220,000 + Bonus

This is an amazing opportunity for a Lead Optimization Engineer to help shape the future of the electricity grid. The technology leverages the latest methods in ML & AI to identify critical patterns in wholesale energy markets and automate operation of renewable + battery projects on the electricity grid. They work on exciting projects with leaders in some of the most lucrative and complex electricity markets in the world.

Key Responsibilities:

• Algorithm Development: Design and develop optimization, forecasting, and control algorithms to automate battery and renewable projects for peak performance.
• Performance Ownership: Oversee algorithm performance across all Powerline-operated projects, ensuring top results.
• Market Expertise: Stay informed about new developments in wholesale markets and act as the expert on market rules.
• Data Analysis: Analyze market data trends and asset performance to recommend enhancements that boost project performance and improve Powerline’s offerings.

Requirements:

• Optimization Experience: 5+ years in building Linear, Mixed-Integer, and/or Nonlinear Optimization models for high-dimensional real-world problems.
• Energy Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of energy markets, EV/Fleet optimization, batteries, Virtual Power Plants, renewable energy, energy policies/regulations, and energy systems.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python.
• Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and excellent communication skills to explain complex concepts clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced Degree: PhD in Engineering, Statistics, Economics, or a related field with a strong mathematical foundation.
• Development Experience: Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, agile development, and database query languages like MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Visualization Skills: Experience with dashboard development and visualization tools.
