🚀 Director of Origination

⚡ Renewable Energy

🌎 Remote, United States – Travel required (20-40%)

💰 $190-220k + bonus

Storm4 is working with a fast-growing firm offering tailored decarbonization solutions to companies. They develop, own, and operate on-site and utility-scale wind, solar, energy storage, projects across the U.S. focusing on optimizing their independent power production portfolio.

As the Director of Origination, you will play a pivotal role in driving business growth by developing & executing go-to-market strategies across the Renewable sector. The primary focus will be on building and nurturing customer relationships, identifying sales and marketing channels, and closing deals in key markets, leverage your expertise in selling, negotiating, and closing Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPAs) within the renewable space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer acquisition and deal origination efforts in the commercial and industrial sectors by developing senior-level customer relationships, as well as negotiating and executing complex structured PPA/VPPA transactions
  • Interactions with internal teams, including Marketing, Finance, and Legal, to advance market initiatives and project proposals
  • Qualify business targets and high value contacts using available customer information and decarbonization metrics to evaluate the commercial potential
  • Develop strong relationships with high-level contacts via frequent in-person interactions which will require travel
  • Understand the key factors in customer corporate decision-making regarding energy needs, including sustainability targets and resiliency goals
  • Understand the fundamentals of all decarbonization solutions, including benefits, challenges, as well as relevant policies and incentives

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Engineering, or related fields; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in origination, business development, or related roles in the energy sector
  • Experience working within key markets – ideally within MISO, ERCOT, and PJM
  • Proven track record of developing go-to-market strategies, establishing sales and marketing channels, and building customer pipelines and relationships
  • Experience in selling, negotiating, and closing PPAs and VPPAs within the renewable space
  • Proven track record of developing and then closing deals with new business opportunities
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, market trends and B2B C&I customers space is preferred
