Mission and Culture
Located within the Department of Natural Resources, the Office of Project Management & Permitting (OPMP) is a small, dynamic team dedicated to coordinating complex resource development projects that span the energy, mining, transportation, and infrastructure sectors. The newly established Carbon Offset Program allows the State to develop innovative and impactful carbon-reduction projects that deliver high-quality carbon offset solutions, new state revenue, and positive environmental and social outcomes. Our Program Coordinator 1 plays an important role within the OPMP team by supporting and assisting the Carbon Offset Program Manager with planning, developing, coordinating, and overseeing the activities, functions, and major components and projects under the Carbon Offset Program.

The Office of Project Management & Permitting is located on the 14th floor of the Robert B. Atwood Building in beautiful downtown Anchorage. OPMPs ideal candidate for this position will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Knowledge of
    • Principles and practices related to project or program coordination, administration, and management.
    • State laws, rules, and policies applicable to natural resource development activities.
    • Principles, practices, and current developments in the fields of carbon finance, decarbonization, or sustainability.
  • Skills in
    • Problem solving.
    • Standard business computing practices and software uses.
    • Engaging a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
    • Professional writing and communicating complex information to a wide variety of audiences using appropriate delivery methods.
  • Ability to
    • Direct a wide variety of functions related to a central task or project.
    • Negotiate and maintain agreements among diverse organizations and individuals.
    • Communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing.
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with federal, state, local, and Tribal government officials, private industry executives, professional-level staff, citizens, and other stakeholders.
