SYSTEMS ANALYST – GULFPORT This role is responsible for the configuration and support of Power Delivery Technology Applications/Programs/Systems at Mississippi Power Company (MPC). Key systems include, but are not limited to, the Automated Resource Management System (ARMS), Network Management System (NMS), Distribution Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (DSCADA), Energy Management System (EMS), Job Estimating Tracking System (JETS), interfacing programs, FMCs (Field Mobile Computers), and other technical tools used in the operation and maintenance of the Distribution System.

The position involves collaboration with MPC Power Delivery Department employees, Southern Company Technology Organization, Georgia Power Company (GPC), Alabama Power Company (APC), and software vendors. Responsibilities include the installation, configuration, maintenance, testing, training, and troubleshooting of applications, programs, and Distribution and Transmission systems.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure the operational integrity and availability of company-specific configurations for Power Delivery applications/programs/systems, some of which require 24/7 uptime. This includes serving as the first line of support and being on-call for system outages.
  • Collaborate with Power Delivery employees to resolve issues and address requests for new technology functionality.
  • Assist in installation of software patches and new releases of the core software, as well as company specific configuration changes. Responsibilities include testing, implementation planning, training, and rollout.
  • Assist in creating, maintaining, and validating the accuracy of reports from these systems to ensure accuracy.
  • Participate in system-wide teams, representing MPC’s needs and providing input on decisions affecting various systems (e.g., software releases, hardware configurations, budgets, company-specific requirements, and best practices).

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or other Engineering degree preferred.
  • Experience with multiple operating systems (Linux, Android, Windows) is required.
  • Experience with relational databases and SQL is required.
  • Experience with MS Office products is required.
  • A strong understanding of programming techniques and methodologies is required.
  • Experience with scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experience with data analytics is preferred.
  • Knowledge in specific MPC used applications/programs/systems such as NMS, DSCADA, CSS, EMS, and others is a plus, but is not required.
  • Occasional overnight travel is required.
