Director of Development

A prominent developer in the renewable energy sector and part of a leading investment portfolio, is seeking a Director of Development to oversee utility-scale energy storage and renewable hybrid projects across the Northeastern United States. This is a rare opportunity to join a well-capitalized organization known for its pioneering role in large scale energy storage.

About the Role:

As a Director of Development, you will play a pivotal role in leading the full lifecycle of utility-scale energy strorage projects, from initial market assessment through to financial close. You will manage a portfolio of projects, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and drive regional expansion initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead project development activities to achieve successful financial close
• Cultivate relationships with external stakeholders including landowners, utilities, and regulatory authorities
• Manage and mentor a team of development analysts
• Coordinate with internal experts in real estate, engineering, legal, and finance
• Oversee acquisition support and manage external consultants

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in utility-scale renewable project development
• Proven track record in executing complex energy projects within PJM, NYISO, and/or ISO-NE markets
• Strong leadership abilities with a proactive and entrepreneurial mindset
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
