Job Description

Primary function of R&D Chemist is to develop high-performance construction products utilized in concrete repair and resurfacing, substrate preparation, flooring installation, natural stone & ceramic tile setting, facades and similar.

Additionally, R&D Chemist’s job is to use and develop technical skills in themselves and others to support the development and maintenance of advanced chemical solutions for new construction, preservation, repair or renovation of structures.

This position works under general supervision, uses standard guidelines, methods, and procedures to perform analyses on cement, concrete, and raw materials, etc. Provides analytical support and staff training, at cement-based production sites and Technical Center.

  • Formulate cement-based products, with an emphasis on tile adhesives, levelling compounds, facades, and repair mortars.
  • Lead formulation localization of cementitious products for variety of end-uses.
  • Manage project timelines for raw materials, localizations, product issues, and new product development.
  • Support several cement plants manufacturing scale up/trial batch activities.
  • Able to set up new research/testing equipment and demonstrates expertise with greater depth of fundamental understanding.
  • Actively Participate in department safety initiatives and making safety presentations.
  • Perform evaluations with technician assistance in compliance with industry practices.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Access, Word & Excel

Qualifications

  • Ph. D degree in Cement chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry or related science field is preferred.
  • Master’s degree with 2 years of experience Cement chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry or related science field.
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience in Cement chemistry or Inorganic Chemistry or related science field.
  • Must be able to travel to plants in the U.S. for trials and troubleshooting when needed.
  • Deep understanding of concrete behavior fundamentals such as cement hydration, concrete microstructure, concrete mechanical properties development, concrete dimensional stability, concrete durability, concrete plastic behavior, and concrete mix design is a plus.
  • Able to follow standard test protocols, such as ASTM and other industry standards.
