A snapshot of your day The Engineering Manager Latin America uses their industry knowledge to oversee a variety of activities. They may coordinate and direct activities on a site or activities related to maintenance, testing, quality assurance, operations and remote monitoring of Siemens Energy equipment. Other duties may include:
  • Developing and supporting detailed plans and dispositions for engineering inquiries.
  • Making determinations for equipment, process or procedures improvement, staff and training needs
  • Leading and support research or fact-finding supporting root cause analysis.
  • Overseeing and strategize remote monitoring
  • Proposing project and program budgets
  • Hiring and supervising staff
  • Checking their team’s work for technical accuracy
  • Ensuring or developing the validity of methods, processes and procedures used by staffCoordinating work with other managers and staff

The position will oversee a multi-client, multi-facility portfolio of properties, as well as provide technical and engineering support for the business unit. The Engineering Manager will lead, manage, direct, and be responsible for the technical support of projects and the remote monitoring portfolio within Gas Services Latin America, ensuring the delivery of services per contractual guidelines. As a member of the Latin America regional management team, this position will actively participate in strategic and tactical functions related to reliability of client facilities, profitability of the business and customer satisfaction.

The Head of Engineering Latin America will report directly to the Head of Service Operations in Latin America.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Responsible for directing the engineering function and maintenance activities including implementing and monitoring necessary engineering dispositions and remote monitoring services.
  • Provide Leadership and Mentorship, to structure and guide highly skilled engineering team, enhancing both performance and professional growth
  • Coordinate dispositions to modifications, additions and repair in the plant including those performed by or scheduled by Siemens Energy.
  • Run and drive Root Cause Analysis reviews and Correction Actions implementation across the business in Latin America to assure process improvements and best practices shared and implemented on all operations.
  • Supervise and direct the scheduling of personnel assigned to the different product lines.
  • Perform administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department including establishing effective working relationships with site employees, factories and other departments within the company.
  • Customer Engagement, by working closely with clients to analyze system requirements, ensuring optimal dispositions and effective remote monitoring service delivery.
  • The implementation and delivery of client and site personnel activities, serving as the senior project manager for all projects and service contracts within the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Performing condition assessments of units or facilities where Siemens Energy is providing services.
  • The development and implementation of an effective Remote Monitoring Program for all accounts.
  • Assists in developing and implementing local team strategies and action plans consistent with the strategies, goals and objectives of Gas Services Latin America business and the clients.
  • Provides regular feedback to the Head of Service Operations on progress made towards achieving these plans and targets.
  • Develop and support short, intermediate, and long term plans, programs, and strategies for Gas Service Latin America business, consistent with the service strategic plan and business unit’s goals and objectives.
  • Prepares Monthly Operations Reviews with financial and operational KPIs including accomplishments, challenges & opportunities, market overviews and key initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of Service Operations.

What You Bring

  • Four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university (required).
  • Professional state engineering license (preferred).
  • Extensive experience in gas turbines or power plants or similar technologies (required).
  • Fluent English and Spanish.
  • Experience in leading multicultural teams. International management experience is preferred
  • Have 8-10 years of technical operations and/engineering management experience in power generation systems and/or the service industry to include mechanical/electrical maintenance functions, balance of plant, etc. (required).
  • Be willing and able to travel more than 35% (required).
  • Be an excellent verbal and written communicator.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective relationships with our employees and clients.
  • Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Outlook, internet, etc.).
  • Lean Management experience is a plus, not requisite
