Certified NDE (Nondestructive Examination) Technician Level II in Ultrasonic Testing (UT), and Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), among others, will provide inspection services both in-process and at final to drawing, specification and/or standard operating procedure within Fort Payne Siemens Energy Electrical Components Plant.
Detailed documentation of all findings and results is expected via Quality Control Instruction, Quality Notification, or Service Notifications.
Weekend Shift: Friday – Sunday 6:00 am – 6:30 pm
- Conduct a variety of non-destructive testing techniques on Large Generator Components, including in-process and final inspections, while evaluating critical quality parameters using standard and special gauging.
- Communicate findings and concerns in both verbal and written formats, and validate, upload, and maintain accurate NDE reports.
- Build, update, and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Quality Instructions, ensuring compliance with specifications and providing feedback for revisions.
- Train and certify QA Technicians in various NDE techniques, and collaborate with level III technicians on new NDE technologies.
- Manage and maintain NDT support equipment, perform calibrations, and propose/implement improvements based on environmental analysis.
- Ensure safety practices are followed, report safety concerns, and be willing to work overtime or change shifts as needed.
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering or related science field. Or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Must be level II certified in UT & PAUT. Experience with Boroscoping techniques and Level II in PT and VT is desirable.
- 2 years NDE experience preferred.
- Must be able to meet Siemens Energy Level II certification requirements in the specific NDE method through testing and passing the specific, general, and practical exams. Be able to provide objective evidence of hours and level II certification letter or documentation. Must be able to maintain their level II status.
- Must be willing to train, take courses, and pass testing in new NDE techniques as required by the business.
- May be required to travel occasionally in this position.
- Experience with gauging, drawings, specification, standard operating procedures. Familiar with the metric system for measurement.
- Digital literacy: Microsoft Office proficiency is a requirement. SAP knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and verbal/written communication skills.
