Position Summary Description
Leads, guides, and directs the effective operation and maintenance of natural gas-fired combined cycle combustion turbine generating facilities, the aero derivative peaking generating facilities, the Seminole Solar facilities and associated equipment in the safest and most economical manner to ensure present and future efficient and reliable production of electric energy.
Work Location: Shady Hills Energy Center in Spring Hill, FL.
Essential Functions
- Effectively leads, guides, directs, and engages team members in the safe and economical operation and maintenance of the facility to ensure continuous availability of the plant as an economical and reliable resource for generation of power for our Members.
- Provides a safe and productive work environment for team members congruent with Seminole’s desired culture and in full support of Seminole’s purpose, core values, core competencies and organizational goals.
- Provides and fosters a strong safety culture for the facility including implementation and administration of an effective program for the safety of plant personnel to ensure the safest work environment in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with Human Resources and effectively staffs, trains, develops, recognizes, and rewards team members based upon performance to ensure a strong, well-qualified, effective, and highly engaged team capable of achieving the goals and metrics of the facility and the department.
- Directs and oversees the establishment, revision, and application of best practice preventative maintenance programs and processes and provides timely and effective repairs and upgrades to maximize the availability and service life of plant systems and equipment.
- Oversees, monitors, and analyzes overall plant performance through reports, interaction, and observation to identify opportunities for improvement and/or potential issues, and engages preventative and/or remedial measures as necessary for optimum plant performance.
- Directs, oversees, and participates in the establishment, review, and revision of practices and procedures for the facility to ensure proper communication and understanding of rules and processes as well as consistency in application.
- Establishes, oversees, and monitors work plans and budgets to ensure compliance with fiscal requirements.
- Collaborates and interacts with vendors, Human Resources, and management to establish and maintain ongoing effective training and development programs for team members to ensure they are equipped with the proper tools for success.
- Plans, establishes, communicates, and monitors goals for team members to ensure effective goal setting and subsequent performance congruent with overall department and organizational goals and objectives.
- Provides detailed short- and long-range plans consistent with plant, departmental, and organizational goals.
- Participates in ongoing coordination and collaboration with Human Resources and management, engages and participates in effective labor and employee relations interactions and initiatives to ensure positive relationships among various groups including union leadership.
- Encourages, supports, and participates in appropriate community involvement in support of the overall mission and goals of Seminole.
- Provides and participates in presentations to Board committees and interacts with the Seminole Board of Trustees as applicable to convey information on plant functions and activities, provide appropriate reporting, etc.
- Physically engages throughout the plant site and effectively interacts with all team members to foster a strong team environment and provides direct guidance and substitutes others in absences as necessary during required situations.
- Proactively ensures that necessary practices, procedures, and programs are in place to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements regarding environmental, reliability standards, safety, and other areas of required compliance.
- Performs NERC Compliance Program roles if/as designated in Seminole’s Standard Ownership Matrix (SOM) including ongoing evidence retention in “audit-ready” form as applicable and directed. You should also be familiar with Seminole’s Enterprise Internal Compliance Program (ENT-GCD-RGC-EP-054) to further your understanding of Seminole’s compliance program and the context of your duties and responsibilities attendant to your designation in the SOM.

Qualifications And Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering; applicable equivalent training or an additional six (6) years of power plant operations can substitute for the degree. Specialized training in management and power generation technology is desired. Requires a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in power plant maintenance and operations. Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of supervisory experience, including three (3) years at a manager level.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to follow established protective measures including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. Must be capable of wearing full and half face respirator. Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
Working Conditions
Some travel and work outside of normal business hours. While working in certain areas of the plant there is the potential for exposure to hazards typical of an industrial working environment. Subject to call at all times. Must be able to work and access all locations of the plant and grounds.
