Engineering Manager – Utility Scale Renewable Energy

$140k – $160k

My client is seeking a Construction Engineering Manager to provide essential engineering and technical support for large-scale renewable energy projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to mentor colleagues and shape the processes and best practices for managing the technical aspects of construction within a dynamic and entrepreneurial company. You’ll work with multiple technologies, including wind, solar, and battery storage.

Key responsibilities include:

– Collaborating with various internal teams (Engineering, Preconstruction, Procurement, Development, Construction, and Interconnection) to tackle challenges during project design and construction.

– Driving process development and documenting learnings to improve future projects.

– Engaging in a variety of renewable construction projects, ensuring they meet high-quality standards.

Pre-construction Phase Duties:

– Optimize project design by working with Engineering, Development, Procurement, and Finance teams.

– Provide input on EPC contract negotiations.

– Incorporate construction lessons into future designs.

Construction Phase Duties:

– Support project managers on active wind and solar projects, ensuring technical challenges are addressed.

– Oversee root cause analysis with contractors and third-party engineers.

– Manage technical aspects of Project RFIs and compliance with the Interconnection Agreement.

– Assist in project management tasks related to technical and engineering items.

Communication and Representation:

– Attend weekly contractor meetings and internal update meetings.

– Coordinate with engineers to resolve technical challenges.

– Conduct site audits during key construction phases to ensure compliance with design specifications.

Technical Expertise:

– Oversee and approve engineering designs.

– Resolve design issues and ensure compliance with GIA requirements.

– Support SCADA system implementation and commissioning processes.

Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably electrical.

– 3+ years of experience as a design engineer or in an Owner’s Engineer consulting role for renewable projects.

– Proven experience managing multiple projects through the EPC process.

– Familiarity with SCADA implementation and mentoring junior team members is a plus.

– Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

– Proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, document management systems, design and review software, and Google Earth.

Work Environment and Style:

– Ability to manage projects with high-quality standards in a collaborative, flat organizational structure.

– Capable of multi-tasking and setting clear targets in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Qualifications:

– Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 40% of the time within the U.S.

– OSHA 10 certification preferred.

– Authorized to work in the United States.
