Excellence in Plant Operations enables us to deliver on our commitments to the project owners. The Sr. Associate Solar Technician position is an integral piece enabling us to achieve this goal.

The Sr. Associate Solar Technician will support the Facility Manager in all aspects of operations and maintenance at Scout Clean Energy’s Markum solar power plant, including modules, inverter, combiner box troubleshooting, repair, or replacements. And will also be responsible for MV (medium voltage) switching operations, planned and unplanned outage coordination, substation component inspections, collection system inspections and repairs, IR scanning of all substation and collection system electrical components and balance-of-plant work as well.

This position will report directly to the Facility Manager, Markum solar power plant.

Requirements

Strive to deliver optimal performance of all the power plant equipment while ensuring safety is of top priority:

  • Execute, and improve programs, procedures, and policies to achieve a safe working environment, key performance metrics, , and equipment efficiency.
  • Oversee and perform facility maintenance. Assist the Facility Manager with schedules and labor estimates.
  • Work with the Facility Manager and provide input to the operating budget for budget forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with all aspects of relevant federal, state, and local regulations, including environmental, NERC/FERC regulations, local laws and other pertinent requirements.

Serve as the Facility Manager’s backup support with project stakeholders, including landowners, local governments, utilities, contractors, and regulators:

  • Oversee contractor performance on all maintenance activities and conduct repair/maintenance audits as required.
  • Ensure the safety of all on-site personnel.
  • Share approved proven practices with peers at other operating solar power plants as directed by the Facility Manager.

Engage With The Scout Team

  • Proactively update the Facility Manager on key issues, approaches to effectively addressing the issues, and report progress towards amicable resolution.
  • Share approved proven practices with peers at other facilities.
  • Contribute to special projects upon request from the Facility Manager and/or Regional Manager and/or the Director of Plant Operations.

Perform other duties as directed by the Facility Manager, the Regional Manager or the Director of Plant Operations.

Required Skills

  • Associate’s degree or comparable Certification in a relevant field or relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in operations and maintenance of solar power plants with various platforms in terms of solar modules, trackers, combiner boxes, inverters and related equipment.
  • Minimum of three years of experience performing component level repairs and maintenance on inverters, solar modules, and tracker systems.
  • Advanced analytical skills and demonstrated proficiency in Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred: Proficiency with substation components, and medium voltage equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Comfortable in working conditions that may present high heat and/or humidity – winter weather conditions and possess the ability to perform essential physical functions of the job.
  • Occasional travel required.

Timeline and Location

Scout aims to fill the Sr. Associate Solar Technician- Markum role as soon as possible, with a proposed start date around the middle of August 2024.

Our ideal candidate will be located in McLennan or Bosque County, Tx., where our Markum Solar plant is located; onsite presence is required.

Benefits

Target base salary: $75,000-80,000 depending on experience. Attractive bonus potential.
