Description
The Associate Engineer of Interconnection is an entry-level position supporting multiple generation interconnections for wind, solar and battery storage projects. The ideal candidate for this position is a recent engineering school graduate and a self-motivated individual with practical real-world experience in the renewable energy industry. This candidate has some engineering, generation interconnection, or transmission planning experience and will be capable of supporting a wide range of technical project tasks. The ideal candidate will have a passion for renewable energy and a strong desire to grow technically. This position requires the ability to manage multiple workloads in a fast-paced environment.
Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Will Include The Following
Project Management
- Support the generator interconnection process schedule: accomplishment of milestones and due date of study deposits.
- Support the submission of interconnection requests for new projects; ensuring all technical and non-technical requirements are met.
- Support the tracking of project budgets, timelines, and documentation. Coordinate such efforts with the development and finance teams.
Contract Management
- Support the review and administration of executed contracts, interaction with counterparties, and review of invoices through the AP system.
Finance and Commercial Matters
- Provide support for commercial negotiations. Develop tools to disseminate interconnection costs and assumptions for a range of negotiating situations.
Stakeholder relationships
- Learn to interface with transmission owners, transmission providers, and other entities to drive project and collective success.
Engineering Design, Technology, Construction and Operation (Includes Interconnection, battery storage, solar, and wind)
- Learn electrical designs for collection systems, project substations and generation radial lines.
- Support the review of interconnection studies, system impact, facilities and SSR studies.
- Provide information to the Development team to support the Interconnection process; monitor timelines and coordinate adherence.
- Assist New Projects team to identify viable POIs for new project opportunities, managing injection studies with consultants.
Internal (Teamwork)
- Receive and provide productive feedback effectively and demonstrate ability to make changes based on feedback
- Identify and elevate potential issues or concerns to the appropriate more senior staff. Address an increasing range of issues independently.
- Identify and address gaps in knowledge needed to
- Address core business issues and commonly encountered issues and concerns. Ensure your work has zero errors prior to sharing with team members.
- During project handoff, coordinate data and documentation management between the Interconnection team and other internal and external parties.
Advance Scout
- Conduct analysis and solicit input needed from other teams to inform your group’s strategy.
- Deliver on the goals you set annually with your manager
- Embody and model Scout’s mission and values in all interactions.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A BS in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline from an accredited college program.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in generation interconnection or transmission planning is preferred.
- Experience running power flow analysis is preferred.
- Self-motivator with exceptional communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties.
- Excitement and enthusiasm in learning how to become a Project Developer.
- Google Earth, Excel, PowerPoint, Word proficiency.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Willing and available to travel as needed (10%-15%).

Timeline and Location
Scout aims to fill the associate Engineer of Interconnection position as soon as possible.
Our ideal candidate will be able to commute to our Boulder office on a 3/2 hybrid schedule.

Benefits
Target base salary: $75,000 – $80,000 depending on experience. Attractive bonus potential.
