As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will have a key role in developing new models and algorithms that use nuclear physics to solve real-world problems. You will provide the physical understanding and computing skills to take advantage of nuclear measurements within diverse datasets. This full-time Research Scientist position is embedded in the Geosciences department at SDR, where we combine expertise in geophysical, mathematical, computational, and engineering sciences. Our projects address the technical challenges and global market needs for the emerging sectors of Decarbonization and the Energy Transition. Extensive datasets and computing infrastructure are available on the premises and in the cloud. As a successful member of our team, you will work with experts locally and across the company to create nuclear models, extract new insights from nuclear measurements, and integrate your algorithms in commercial solutions.

Scientists are encouraged to publish research results, present work at conferences, and file for patent protection.

Minimum qualification & experience

  • Ph.D. degree in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or related fields, with courses and preferably thesis work related to modeling and analysis of nuclear data.
  • Strong interest in physical simulations and interpretation of data. You thrive on the combination of science and computing to extract insights. Experience with MCNP or Geant is preferred.
  • Fluency with programming languages such as Python, Matlab, C++, or similar. Experience with machine learning and data science is an advantage.
