Basic Function

The Settlements Manager will support the Finance group in various functions including management of the eTRM system, settlement of trades, payments, and other financial obligations. This position will support the organization with short and long-term renewable power portfolio analysis and valuations, risk monitoring and analysis, data management, and process improvement.

The successful candidate will be an integral part of a team responsible for optimizing the profitability of a growing portfolio of operating assets. This position will coordinate with a variety of internal and external counterparties including Risk, Transmission Analytics, Data Science, Power Marketing, Operations, and Capital Markets. The successful candidate will maintain meticulous accuracy in a multi-project, multi-entity setting and will thrive in a fast-paced, constantly evolving work environment demanding a high-level of ownership and analytical, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manages the settlement process for all PPAs, hedges and trades executed by the organization, ensuring timely and accurate settlement of transactions.
  • Manages the organization’s eTRM system, including access, segregations of duties, systems controls and integrations with other systems within the organization’s landscape.
  • Oversees the processing of payments to counterparties, vendors, and service providers, ensuring adherence to payment schedules and accuracy in payment amounts.
  • Conducts regular reconciliation of trade and payment records with counterparties, internal records, and custodians to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Supports portfolio valuation analysis and stress testing; flow through to FP&A as necessary.
  • Generates regular reports on settlement activities, including trade volumes, settlement times, and outstanding obligations, for management and regulatory purposes.
  • Maintains effective relationships with counterparties, custodians, clearing agents, and other external stakeholders to facilitate smooth settlement processes and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise.
  • Collaborates with other departments, such as trading, risk management, asset management and operations, to ensure alignment of settlement processes with broader organizational objectives and strategies.
  • Continuously assesses and improves settlement processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, reduce operational risks, and streamline workflows.
  • Stays up to date with relevant regulations governing settlement processes and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CPA) preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in settlements operations with a deep understanding of securities settlement processes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems used for trade processing, payment processing, and reconciliation (e.g., Bloomberg, SWIFT, settlement platforms).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Leadership and team management abilities, with a track record of supervising and developing teams to achieve departmental goals.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and practices related to settlement operations.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements governing settlement processes and experience in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prefer experience in renewables.

Location: Redwood City, CA; San Diego, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Dallas, TX preferred or remote option available.

The position may require up to 10% domestic travel.

Base Pay – $130,000 – 145,000

Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, such as skill set, experience, certifications, specific work location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. Base pay may vary per location due to differences in the cost of living.

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual discretionary bonus, full Health & Wellness Benefits package, and other applicable incentive perks as outlined in any formal offer made. The final compensation package will be discussed with the candidate during the final stages of the hiring process.
