Utility-Scale Solar Project Manager

Salary: $150,000 – $190,000 + Up to 25% Bonus + Per Diem

Location: 100% Travel Across the USA

Rotation: Home Week Rotation

Please note: This role is advertised for candidates with prior experience as Project Manager for an EPC on the construction side of Utility Scale Solar projects. Also, it is a 100% travelling role with home rotation week. Between projects, work is from home.

This client is responsible for delivering some of the largest solar projects in the country, with capacities ranging from 100MW to 500MW. As a self-perform construction company, they rely heavily on project managers who are experienced in overseeing direct employee workforces and thrive in high-stakes, fast-paced environments.

Role Overview

The Project Manager will take full responsibility for the successful delivery of utility-scale solar projects. You will be tasked with managing all aspects of project execution, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and safety measures are strictly adhered to. Your ability to coordinate across various departments, including suppliers, logistics, engineering teams, and site crews, will be pivotal in driving the project to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of solar construction projects from initiation to commissioning.
  • Manage project schedules, ensuring critical deadlines are met without compromising quality.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of all materials and inventory.
  • Monitor project budgets rigorously, adjusting strategies to avoid cost overruns while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of Health & Safety on-site, ensuring strict compliance with all local and federal safety regulations.
  • Lead mechanical and electrical installation teams, ensuring installations are executed to the highest standard.
  • Manage a direct, self-perform workforce, optimizing efficiency and resource utilization throughout the project’s lifecycle.
  • Ensure all project documentation, including permits and reports, are accurate and up to date.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and clients to ensure alignment on project deliverables.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager on utility-scale solar EPC projects.
  • Experience managing projects from 100MW to 500MW in size.
  • Extensive background in overseeing self-perform construction teams, including direct workforce management.
  • Solid understanding of mechanical and electrical installation processes within solar construction.
  • Comprehensive experience managing project schedules, with a track record of delivering on time and within budget.
  • Strong experience in supplier management and logistics coordination for large-scale construction.
  • Adept at enforcing Health & Safety protocols and mitigating risk on large construction sites.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate teams and drive projects forward under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel 100% with home week rotation.

Preferred Skills

  • PMP certification or equivalent project management qualification is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and solar tracking technologies is a plus.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with a knack for resolving conflicts and driving collaboration.
