What’s the job?
Responsible for the overall management, direction, and coordination of the Roofing and Granule manufacturing facilities in Norwood. The role assures the continuous and efficient operation of the site while meeting the company’s goals for safety, quality and profitability. Oversees all plant activities including production, budgeting, maintenance, shipping, EHS, plant engineering and quality control. This site is a vertically integrated granule and roofing plant, with two facilities across the street from one another. The site produces and ships approximately 100 truckloads of material / day.
Manages manufacturing and/or production operations including crushing, coloring, assembly, machinery, processing and/or packaging for both facilities. Sets production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, materials supply, staffing resources, and volume required to meet demand and to ensure maximum production quantity and quality.
- Manage all aspects of plant operations through plant staff to ensure the site meets or exceeds the key performance indicators for safety, quality and service while minimizing cost, inventory and waste. Implement programs for continuous improvement and profit management for all operations.
- Implement, set and maintain site KPI’s and programs to ensure that the plant meets / exceeds Company requirements for Health, Safety and Environment. Identify and pursue continuous improvement programs for HSE and Quality Assurance. Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping and environmental awareness among all employees.
- Develop and recommend yearly production plan based on projected sales plans and projected costs; Plant Budget responsibility for all aspects of the plant operations.
- Selects and provides development of direct reports to support the continuous improvement philosophy. Participate directly in the conduct of industrial and labor relations including union negotiations.
- Assure compliance of all Plant Operations with company policy, and Federal, State and Local regulations while maintaining strict compliance with Saint-Gobain Principles of Conduct & Action.
- Complete all administrative requirements in a timely fashion such as monthly reports, manufacturing reports and analysis, etc.
- Represents the company in the community and promotes the company’s goodwill and interests in the community.

What do you bring?
- Bachelor’s Degree required in technical discipline such as Engineering is preferred. Also a Master’s Degree preferred
- 8-10 years of progressive experience in production / operations management
- 5-7 years of experience as Production Manager or Plant Superintendent level
- The incumbent needs to have an excellent understanding of manufacturing including the ability to see broad business issues and be able to develop and execute plans towards objectives.
- The incumbent should have average to advanced MS Office skills.
- Must possess excellent leadership skills with the ability and interest in developing and coaching others and have strong communication skills with all levels of the organization.
- He/she must have very strong organizational, interpersonal, management, communication, and team building skills.
- He/she must be able to lead by example, allocate resources and utilize sound judgment to achieve the desired end results.
- He/she must be a strong communicator, both written and oral, to management as well as reports both direct and indirect.
- Ability to work with employees at all levels including hourly workforce and top management as well as external contacts such as regulatory officials, consultants and outside experts.
- Should possess a good problem solving ability in process and project troubleshooting while remaining calm and even tempered under pressure so as to maintain a clear perspective of the overall objectives. Must be able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in solving it. Requires strong analytical and decision making skills.
