Job Summary:

The Quality Control Field Inspector (QC Inspector) will oversee and ensure the quality and compliance of high voltage substation and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction projects. This role demands a detail-oriented professional with a keen eye for quality assurance, adherence to safety standards, and thorough knowledge of construction practices. Experience in Transmission Line Construction projects is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection and Quality Control:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of high voltage substations and BESS construction sites to ensure adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor construction activities including materials, equipment, and work practices for compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the construction process, documenting any deviations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Review and validate documentation including work orders, blueprints, technical specifications, and as-built drawings.
  • Maintain detailed records of all inspections, tests, and corrective actions.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive inspection reports to the Quality Control Manager.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of quality control plans.
  • Communicate effectively with on-site personnel and project teams to address quality issues promptly.
  • Participate in project meetings to provide updates on quality control activities and discuss any potential issues.

Training and Continuous Improvement:

  • Assist in training construction crew members on quality standards and inspection procedures.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality control programs and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in construction practices to enhance overall project quality and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in quality control or inspection roles within high voltage substation, BESS, or Transmission Line Construction projects.
  • Administrative Skills: e.g., use of Microsoft word and excel
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications such as NACE, NDT, or other industry-recognized quality assurance certifications are a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction processes, codes, and standards applicable to high voltage and BESS projects.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to various project sites primarily within Texas, with the potential for assignments in other geographies.
  • Standard construction site conditions with exposure to outdoor elements and potential hazards.
  • Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
