Remuneration: Non-Exempt

The Solar Farm Technician Associate monitors the availability of the Solar & Energy Storage farm and ensures mechanical and electrical maintenance is performed when necessary to maintain established safety and operating targets. The associate is responsible for executing a daily scheduling philosophy utilizing a prioritized list of work provided by planning, focusing on maximizing generation and ensuring proactive work is prioritized and completed.

Responsibilities:

  • Test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar PV & battery storage electrical equipment
  • Ensure that all assigned maintenance tasks are performed safely and by site operating procedures established for Storage/Solar PV sites
  • Complete Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), JSA’s, Permit to Work, and job-specific documentation that is required to conduct maintenance and repairs in a safe manner
  • Proactively look for improvement opportunities for job-appropriate processes and procedures
  • Perform data collection and prepare reports to meet reporting requirements
  • Perform balance of plant and switchyard work as required
  • Perform maintenance on BESS, trackers, inverters, and other PV electrical equipment as assigned by the Site Supervisor or Lead
  • Monitor the activities of maintenance contractors and ensure corrective actions where appropriate
  • Perform current and voltage readings as necessary
  • Document all work and generate reports as necessary
  • Identify gaps in safety standards and safety risks in the environment
  • At times, may assist with BOP activities
  • Use available tools to monitor energy output and respond quickly to emergencies or situations requiring immediate troubleshooting and corrective actions
  • Ensure site access, site HSE, security, deliveries, and inspections are performed by site protocols
  • Interface with any 3rd party contractors working at our facilities
  • Available to respond to nontraditional operating hours for operations, maintenance, and emergent issues, including emergent abnormal operating conditions, execution of maintenance, tracking work orders, resolution of O&M issues
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in operations and maintenance of power generation, transmission, and distribution. Preference will be given to the candidate with some renewable energy experience, preferably solar
  • Associate degree in engineering or related Science from an accredited school (other than correspondence or internet) preferred
  • Must be skilled in at least one of the following: power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance, substations maintenance, power plant safety protocols
  • Must have a valid state Driver’s License in good standing with no restrictions
  • Must be able to relocate within 1-hour of the site
  • Work in extreme weather conditions
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to and over 50 lbs
  • Routine operation of a computer/tablet and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Frequent oral and written communications
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Complete all required training in a satisfactory manner and timeframe
  • First aid/CPR/AED
  • OSHA Certified
  • Shift work

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position is a combined field- and office-based role involving travel and visits to other RWECE offices and field locations. The employee must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations of time.

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California in California is $23.41 – $35.11. The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
