Job Functions (Essential)

  • Assist Quality Engineers and Associate Quality Engineers in coordinating and implementing quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost
  • Coordinate with Test engineer to perform the test inspections
  • Perform inspections on test fuel, coolant, oil filtration systems and make sure quality meets the standards
  • Analyze/Validate the test data and process quality check sheet
  • Process Test Deviations on quality issues
  • Support Military inspections and complete the required paperwork to ship the engine
  • Support Tool and Gauge calibration. Improve, audit calibration processes for efficiency
  • Perform inspections on Paint, tools, Final and Preventative maintenance
  • Support the investigation of line calls with assisting in the determination of root cause
  • Assist in OPTICS audit verifying effective and repeatable corrective measures
  • Support monthly military customer onsite and offsite audits
  • Provide accurate and timely data to the quality department regarding quality concerns
  • Assist in the monitoring of the calibration program through inspection of gauges and measuring equipment
  • Keep quality abreast of progress, developments & pending problems
  • Write and distribute quality data and reports
  • Implement and ensure good health and safety practices are followed along with good housekeeping practices
  • Assist in implementing quality audits of production and operations
  • Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility, and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct
  • Perform special projects as required

Daily work is performed in a general manufacturing and office environment.

This position has a compressed work schedule that requires four (4) ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work week, and the position is eligible for overtime as business requires with causal overtime expected.

While performing tasks for this position, the employee is regularly requested to perform work on a computer inside and outside of the work environment. Also, the employee will be occasionally requested to come in contact with wet environmental conditions. Finally, the employee will frequently hear noise while performing task in the work environment.

While performing physical demands of the position, regularly the employee will be requested to stand, sit, walk, climb and stoop. However, the employee will be frequently be requested to balance, kneel, crouch, reach, and squat. Finally, an employee will be frequently requested to grasp and manipulate items in a maneuverable manner to perform daily tasks.

Employees will be occasionally required to push, pull, carry, lift and or move materials within the work environment. The materials will weigh between 10-50 pounds and the employee will be occasionally requested to move materials during the course of a week.

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus and employee must have the ability to see in color. The employee must also be able to inspect MTU America engine products under a fluorescent black light.

Qualifications

Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)Required:

  • Two years mechanical trade school or Associate’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Quality Engineering and 5 years of quality technician experience; or 8 years of quality technician experience
  • Advanced operational/quality ability and skill, as demonstrated by acquiring the points associated with Rolls-Royce Solutions America’s Skilled Based Pay Competency Level 4
  • Knowledge of the practical application of manufacturing process and engine technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production of internal combustion engines
  • Knowledge of the dynamic performance requirements, test setup and monitoring, and problem resolution of internal combustion engines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of geometric tolerating and related gauges
  • Self-starter possessing strong initiative and teamwork
  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite

Preferred:

  • Familiar with plant operations and equipment
  • Knowledge of MTU components and products
  • Strong knowledge of internal combustion engine performance requirements
  • Working knowledge of gauge and test equipment
