Electrical Systems Engineer

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to design and analyze electrical systems for substation interconnect facilities, solar, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role includes reviewing and revising plans for PV and BESS installations, and working on auxiliary power, backup power, fire protection, security, lighting, and communication systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Organize and coordinate project design packages.
• Oversee electrical design including AC/DC diagrams, schematics, and power quality studies.
• Conduct system-level electrical design for substation, solar, and BESS projects.
• Perform engineering calculations and ensure code compliance.
• Develop and optimize designs for construction.
• Provide detailed design concepts and optimization support.
• Use tools to size equipment and materials.
• Write and evaluate engineering reports and review designs.
• Support business development with site layouts and BOMs for proposals.
• Offer technical support for proposals, estimating, procurement, and construction.
• Assess electrical technology for project optimization.
• Conduct site visits to verify construction alignment with design.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience in utility-level substation design.
• Knowledge of engineering principles and standards.
• Proficiency in evaluating electrical/communication drawings.
• Strong Project Management and substation design understanding.
• Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD 2D, Blue Beam, AmpCalc, CymCap, etc.
• Analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred).
• 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience.
• Expertise in electrical system sizing and renewable EPC projects.
• Preferred experience in utility-scale solar/PV projects.
• Willingness to travel up to 35%.
