The metrology team at QuantumScape is responsible for delivering custom inspection and measurement solutions that improve the quality and performance of our batteries and enhance our learning of its various components. Do you want to make a major contribution to this critical part of the future energy economy? Come join us on our mission as we revolutionize energy storage to enable a sustainable future.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, build, and own metrology systems that characterize our battery components.
  • Use your statistical analysis skills to characterize the performance of metrology systems.
  • Develop new features and capabilities on existing and future metrology systems.
  • Support production teams by troubleshooting tool issues, training users, and eliminating tool down-time with engineering controls.

Minimum requirements:

  • B.S. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, applied physics, or a related field.
  • Experience using measurement systems in a lab environment.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design and rapid prototyping.
  • Coursework or professional experience using statistics to make engineering decisions.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • You have a curious, hands-on approach to problem solving.
  • You are a strong communicator and love working in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Your time-management and organizational skills allow you to balance multiple high-impact projects.
  • You apply your resourcefulness to develop new skills. You’re comfortable asking questions.

Preferred:

  • Hands-on experience developing measurement, imaging, or characterization systems.
  • Experience using machine shop equipment and power tools.
  • Experience with a scientific programming language such as python.
  • Previous experience with machine vision software (camera control, image processing) and/or hardware (optical, acoustic, or thermal sensors).
  • Experience with AutoDesk Inventor or equivalent.

This position is required to perform these above essential duties and responsibilities onsite at our QS offices.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range for this role has a range of $78,000 to $113,100, and a final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience and educational background.
