Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of building a new sustainability program from its nascency. The Sustainability Program Manager is a key member of the Sustainability team and will support a program development, data gathering, analysis, disclosure preparation and support for multiple aspects of Qcells’ sustainability and corporate governance programs. This role requires both highly technical comprehension and analytical skills and the ability to clearly communicate complex data simply to others. The primary role is program manager responsible for the success of the EPEAT eco-label, for multiple products, including overseeing new registrations and on-going annual audit responses. This requires collaborating across Qcells’ ESG, R&D, supply chain, manufacturing, and sales & marketing teams, and overcoming competing priorities and reporting structures. Expectations include developing robust and efficient new processes, close attention to detail, ability to critically review complex and technical criteria, verify that data received from others is accurate and meets the intent of the requirement, and problem-solving with a global comprehension of impacts. This role also includes collecting and managing carbon data in a new ESG data management software, Sweep. In addition to EPEAT and carbon accounting, they will assist in other programs, projects, and initiatives to support Qcells’ progressive sustainability goals. This role will identify, collect, manage, and effectively communicate a wide range of ESG metrics and projects.

Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Work closely with Korean colleagues to manage and drive effective communication for successful project results.
  • Lead the implementation of cross-functional programs and initiatives within each manufacturing facility as well as company-wide to reduce environmental footprint, including GHG emissions, energy use, and waste.
  • Support/improve data integrity and accurate reporting of carbon footprint and other environmental KPIs for multiple sites.
  • Work closely with diverse stakeholders to conduct needs analysis, provide periodic updates, and communication strategies.

Metrics and Reporting

  • Ensure ESG data meets new regulations, requirements and sustainability reporting standards.
  • Manage and track all sustainability KPIs for the company across all North American facilities and the overall business; provide regular updates on performance to management.
  • Support the company’s ESG initiatives and disclosures including working with a cross-functional team to collect, organize and analyze data for the annual sustainability reports, CDP, Amazon Climate Pledge, SBTi, and overall emissions tracking to show progress against the company’s goals.
  • Extensive data management experience, using a variety of tools, including frequently utilizing Excel spreadsheets, and learning Sweep software to build, analyze, and update project KPI.
  • Occasionally conduct risk assessments, sensitivity analyses, and anticipate impacts of internal and external changes, with proposed scenarios and potential solutions.

Thought Leadership

  • Very passionate about sustainability and how companies can positively affect the environment and society, and enthusiastically convey messaging.
  • Ability to translate and calculate sustainability metrics into financial benefits.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing, strategy, R&D, and other teams to develop a coordinated carbon reduction roadmap to set short term and medium term goals as required to achieve Net Zero.

Required Qualifications

  • Four or more years of Project Management experience.
  • Experience with ESG/sustainability reporting and disclosure, including knowledge of current tools and trends.
  • Very strong data management, analytical, and carbon accounting skills.
  • Able to work effectively in an international cultural environment, despite challenges with language barriers and cultural differences that may require extra patience.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, including self-motivating, time management, and project management with the ability to work independently much of the time.
  • Approachable and friendly with a positive attitude; demonstrated ability to establish rapport, trust, and effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff.
  • Good communication skills; demonstrated ability to develop and edit written reports and concise presentation materials, as well as be effective in verbal communications and presenting weekly updates.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Business Management, Environmental Science, or related fields.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, corporate, or startup.
  • Experience with CDP or similar reporting standards.
  • Experience with ESG risk assessment and management.
