SOLAR LEAD
QCELLS Enable is the EPC branch of Qcells for the Commercial, Industrial, Distributed Generation, and Small Utility Scale solar markets. Our mission is to provide world class design and installation of large-scale PV and ESS systems throughout the US. Our position as a leading module manufacturer means we can offer end-to-end solutions for project developers and asset managers. We are expanding our offerings and have several open positions currently in our Teaneck, New Jersey headquarters.
Summary
The Solar Lead will provide support to the Construction Manager & Field Supervisor of the installation team and ensure the completion of installation of all solar arrays and solar systems for Commercial Properties. It is the responsibility of each Installer to ensure safe work practices for the installation team.
This position will provide support to the Site (Solar) Superintendent & Field Operations Manager of the installation team and ensure the completion of installation of all solar arrays and solar systems for Commercial Properties. It is the responsibility of each Installer to ensure safe work practices for the installation team.
This position reports to the Site Superintendent. This position location will be remote and based on the project location. 100% travel required.
Essential Job Function & Responsibilities
- Partake in all aspects of Solar farm construction from conception to completion.
- Transport, secure, and install photovoltaic (PV) modules.
- Assist in connecting making series/parallel string connection.
- Affix wires to structure aligned with plan set specifications.
- Assist in wire pulls and labeling.
- Ability to read plan sets and wire PV array according to the plans.
- Make MC4 or similar field connections on PV wire.
- Use a machine threader for Rigid Metal Conduit.
- Ground and Bond according to the plan set.
- Perform inter-row and inverter/combiner/disconnect trenching.
- Install inter-row, inverter/combiner/disconnect, and racking conduit.
- Perform DC wire and grounding terminations.
- Coordinate construction activity and documentation for the Golden Row inspection.
- Perform tests including meggar, polarity, VOC and IV curve trace.
- Perform Quality and Safety checks.
- Lead and Attend Safety Toolbox talks, Complete and Comply with Job Hazard Analysis/Site Specific Safety Plan.
- Attend utility tests, inspections and energization.
- Select tools, materials and equipment.
- Manage crew members and production schedule.
- Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques.
- Report and coordinate with Qcells management.
Required Qualifications
- Good attitude, eager, willing to learn, proactive.
- Working experience in construction (5+ years).
- Experience in constructing distribution scale PV and/or ESS projects (3+ years preferred).
- Solar or commercial electric experience in a leadership role (2+ years).
- Ability to work in all weather conditions in New York.
- Ability to lift 50lbs and perform repetitive tasks.
- Knowledge of building products, construction details and relevant rules, regulations and quality standards.
- Competency with the Microsoft suite of software.
- Familiarity with Procore or other project management software.
- Ability to prioritize work activity, delegates tasks, and motivate a crew.
- Ability to travel within the New York State, up to 100% of the time;
- Ability to read plans sets and install accordingly.
- Ability to work within a team and work independently.
- Ability to work a variety of hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Valid Drivers License & Clean Driving Record.

EXAMPLES OF PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Able to climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, stairways, etc.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or work at elevated heights as well as in confined spaces (towers, vessels, excavations, etc.).
- Able to walk or move continuosuly while carrying 50 lbs. of tools and/or materials. It is recommended to get assistance to lift items over 50 lbs. Check with your project supervisor or project safety director.
- Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
- Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.) Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
- Requires repetitive movement.
