PSE’s Energy Resource Development team is looking for qualified candidates to fill an open Associate Energy Resource Planning Acquisition Analyst – Finance position!

Job Description

Puget Sound Energy is looking for an Associate Energy Resource Planning Acquisition Analyst to join our team. PSE is on a journey to shape the future of energy, with a requirement to provide a greenhouse gas-neutral power supply by 2030 and provide 100% of power supply from renewable and non-emitting resources by 2045. We must meet these goals while maintaining reliable supply to our customers. These changes will help us support the communities we serve with renewable and cleaner energy for generations to come.

The Associate Energy Resource Planning Acquisition Analyst will work within the Resource Acquisition department to evaluate offers for clean energy resources through our request for proposals (RFP) process and identify which potential resources can cost-effectively help us meet our clean energy goals and satisfy our capacity needs.

Leveraging tools and techniques from Microsoft Excel to Aurora, the analyst will perform financial and energy portfolio analysis to identify a portfolio of potential resources that meet PSE’s needs at the lowest reasonable cost.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and economics, be comfortable with quantitative modelling, have the discipline to document assumptions and processes, and be able to contribute to a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists with preparation of financial forecasts related to revenue requirements, operating expenses, capital expenditures, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA), net income for potential new resources.
  • Assists with performing long-term resource analysis under direction of senior staff using spreadsheet models and programs such as Aurora and Plexos.
  • Assists with development and maintenance of input and output databases necessary to perform long-term resource planning analysis.
  • Assists with researching critical energy policy issues that may affect the Company’s long-term resource strategy.
  • Organizes results of analysis and research projects.
  • Assists in efforts to support resource acquisitions.
  • Supports development of written documents and presentations to help effectively communicate results of research and analyses.
  • Assists with development and performance of miscellaneous analysis and research at the direction of senior staff.
  • Creates communication materials, such as PowerPoint slides, charts, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical analysis.
  • Solid written, interpersonal, and group communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a supportive team member.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Math, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in energy-related industry including complex analysis.
  • Experience performing statistical analysis.
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage large data sets and use data visualization tools such as Power BI.
  • Experience creating and using database applications to support analysis.
  • Experience researching energy policy related issues.
  • Good organizational skills.

The pay range for this position is $69,600.00 – $108,100.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
