Job Summary

This position is within the Power System Management department of PSEGLI. The Engineer will be responsible for managing the interconnection process of the distribution generating resources to the LIPA T&D system based on the LIPA and NYISO tariffs. In addition the Engineer will be responsible for managing existing generating resources and contracts, both commercial and regulatory.

Job Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Process applications that come through PSEG LI Small Generator Interconnection Procedure (SGIP) through multiple phases of project, study, design, engineering, construction, commissioning and commercial operation.
  • Wholesale Power contracting experience, both from commercial and regulatory end. Participate and contribute cradle to grave contract management from early involvement with developing the scope of work, RFP process, contract negotiation.
  • Project Management of Generating Resources (Renewable/Non-Renewable) to LIPA Distribution System.
  • Review and familiarity with utility single line drawing and ability to manage multiple projects while providing superb customer service.
  • Provide support on technical end to assist Renewable and Non-Renewable projects proposed to interconnect to LIPA Distribution System.
  • Awareness and knowledge of NYISO Interconnection Process. Awareness of NYISO ICAP Market rules.
  • Assist in operational management of existing interconnected resources on both Transmission and Distribution LIPA system.
  • As an employee of PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm/outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and your regular work schedule or location.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil).
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant engineering experience
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with attention to detail as well as planning and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of distribution/transmission system design, engineering and construction methods and practices.
  • Awareness of Long Island Electric System, Knowledge of NYISO market structure.
  • Knowledge of relaying and system protection.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft office products (Excel, Access, Power Point, Word).
  • Must be able to draft clear and precise documents outlining technical requirements.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills to communicate complex technical issues to a broad audience.

Desired:

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or similar project management software.
  • Experience with managing commercial contracts
