It is currently managing and progressing a significant portfolio of operational and development stage solar+ battery storage projects. Primergy Solar is a portfolio company of Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners and represents Quinbrooks principal solar and solar plus energy storage investment platform in North America.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Valuation/Analytics Director will manage financial modeling and analysis through the development phase for Primergys growing portfolio of solar and energy storage projects.
The Valuation/Analytics Director will need to have intimate knowledge of both the fundamentals of the project development portfolio, as well as comparative and market data of the broader renewable market to validate and improve outcomes.
The Valuation/Analytics Director will need to be familiar with capital market activities related to renewables, financing options, constraints and requirements, policy issues, trends in solar and storage, market opportunities in North America including new markets, technology options, prevailing and novel commercial structures and project development fundamentals. Understanding market rules, market specific revenue streams and analyzing competitive issues and risks are key to this position.
Deep experience in financial analysis and modeling is critical. Evaluating fundamental issues and in-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies, and the Companys goals will also be required. The job holder will be expected to understand the challenges of project financing energy storage and solar + storage projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
Team Leadership: Oversee team of project Analysts and Associates to effectuate a thorough valuation process across the Companys project portfolio as well as transaction support and project structure optimization. Manage, support, mentor and train team.
- Valuation: Lead project analysis for Primergys portfolio of solar and storage development projects to support development strategy, off take negotiations and other development decisions.
- Process: Develop and manage rigorous process around project financial analysis and input gathering/auditing that assures consistency across portfolio, flags potential risks and opportunities due to changing market trends, capital markets, insurance, and policy impacts. Sync with and query internal teams, including leadership, on impacts on projects of changing dynamics.
- Coordinate with Project Finance: Understand and align on any differences in the various stages of the project models to address the different audiences, including internal teams, equity sponsors and investors, lenders, and tax equity partners. Collaborate with the Project Finance team to ensure inputs and assumptions align during the entire project development and design processes, and that such assumptions are tied to expected structures, terms and conditions that should be achievable in the market at the anticipated time of financing. Coordinate and manage the transition of the project model to the Finance team prior to the start of financing.
- Model Development: Manage updates of financial modeling tools and processes to keep current on inputs. Develop ad hoc financing tools as necessary. Audit complicated financial models, explain results and perform variance analysis.
- Risk Management: Stay abreast of issues impacting projects and develop and maintain successful reporting internally and to investors of changes in project valuation. Monitor risk areas, and incorporate lessons learned into ongoing project reporting efforts.
- Communication: Conduct periodic trainings with team members outside of valuation on how project capital and operating costs, design considerations, financing and tax credit structures, and similar considerations impact project returns. Connect regularly with company investors on changing project returns and impacts. Prepare materials that clearly articulate financial analysis, sensitivities, risk items along with potential mitigation measures, including for project/ transaction decision making, developing strategy with senior management and leadership and preparing for internal and board approvals.
- Energy Markets: Facilitate the incorporation of 3rd party energy, REC and capacity price forecasts as well as basis and curtailment studies into the Primergy valuation and financing workflows, as well as participation in merchant markets and recommendations around structuring.
- Market Input: Develop and maintain relationships in the renewable energy, insurance and financial communities to stay abreast of changing market conditions and inputs that may change project outcomes.
- Approximately 15% travel required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in finance, quantitative economics, mathematics, or other quantitative discipline or combination of education and experience. MBA or CFA preferred.
- 10+ years of professional experience, with a large portion of that time spent in a quantitative renewables role either in project finance, project valuation, other analytical role or combination.
- Experience managing and developing a team.
- Advanced Excel financial modelling skills
- Detailed technical understanding of renewable energy tax equity and debt financing structures
