Summary:

The Sustaining Engineer has strong programming, networking, and engineering skills and a passion for clean energy. The Sustaining Engineering team at Powin leads technical efforts to support operating large scale battery storage systems in the field. The Sustaining Engineering team collaborates closely with Powins Analytics, Field Service, R&D, and Engineering groups on projects related to software, hardware, and engineering as it relates to the control, operations, and maintenance of energy storage systems for Powin and our customers.

Job Details:

• Lead the assessment of field issues and initial RCAs: Software, Control, Network and Hardware issues
• Analyze events and provide guidance and support for the SW and HW division to develop fixes
• Support QA organization in testing and validation of solutions
• Support the deployment and testing of improvement and fixes to the field
• Provide high level support to answer more complex field, operational, and customer questions
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
• 2 or more years of technical experience working directly with renewable energy, energy storage, SCADA, and field networks, including hands on expertise in debugging power systems equipment
• Understanding of Python, shell scripting, Ansible, Java. Tinkering with IOT systems such as Home Assistant, a plus.
• Experience with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, IEEE 802.1 and 802.3, HTTP, etc.)
• Experience with device protocols (Modbus/TCP, Modbus/RTU, DNP3, SCADA, Sunspec)
• Detail oriented and organized, able to multi-task act quickly and work well under pressure and tight deadlines
• Ability to learn new frameworks, new environments, and new technologies
• Creative problem-solving skills
• Strong customer and client service skills
• Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
• Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across levels and functions
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
• Ability to work flexible hours as needed to support international teams
• Travel to customer sites may be required
